OK I am looking for a fuel filter that is -6 AN male fittings on each end & is for aLT1 motor. Now my question is this: What micron rating filter should I look for? I have seen everything from around 25 to 100.

Thanks,

depends on where it's located and whether for carb or EFI. On EFI I use a 100 micron pre-filter between the tank and pump(s) and a 10 micron after the pump before the rails. Do not swap them!

The pump is in the tank & it is for a fuel injected LT1.

go with a 10 micron or similar filter for EFI between the tank and fuel rails.

I run a stock TPI style with saginaw to -6 fittings on my car (Gasket and Earls sells them). Cheap and I've had no issues at 630 HP or so.

The stock filters are very nice. The aftermarket filters may look great, but most are PsOS! I had a filter on my GTO, the brand I won't mention. It looked great. I checked it with only 3K miles on it and the filter element was actually collapsed inside the housing. Fancy piece of billet crap.

Doug, I have one of the Saginaw to -6 fitting & I thought it looked restrictive. The one I have, the ID of the fitting is about .25" & it looked like the O ring fit inside the ID of the filter & not seal against the shoulder as the factory GM bump flare would with the O ring. In the picture you can see standard 3/8" line compared to the Saginaw to -6 fitting.

All I can say is I have no leaks and at most a 1 PSI drop from no load to WOT as seen going through the traps at 630HP...

If you look at the outlet sizes of a walbro 255LPH pump you see very small orifices.

Take apart a "2000HP" Weldon pump and it has very small orifices as well.

These "small orfices" have no/short length associated with them.

When it comes to restrictions, what I don't like is non-swept 90's and banjo fittings.

I wouldn't want to see the small orfices on the inlet though...
