Good luck tonight, Florida fans. It should be a real good game.

Go Bucks!

<note> With all these football posts, I am starting to think we need a 'Sports' section under The Outhouse :)

So ...

Are you Big 10 guys convinced yet? The supposed 2 best teams ... Ohio State and Michigan. Not.

Florida doesn't deserve to be in the game. Wrong.

Ohio State will roll all over the Gators. Sorry, try again.

Who said "they only write one name on the trophy?" :)

I realize I'm gloating right now, but damn, some of you Big 10 guys were hard to take. I will say this: Ohio State was hurt by the absence of Ted Ginn, Jr. That hurt them a lot. I saw my worst nightmare coming true on the opening kickoff, but it seems he actually got hurt during the celebration in the end zone. That's a bad break, and it affected the game significantly.

But it became more and more obvious during the game that OSU had no answer for the speed and toughness of the Florida front 7. Derrick Harvey, Jarvis Moss, Ray McDonald, Brandon Siler, and Earl Everett are special players. Ohio State only gained 89 yards! Reggie Nelson (All American safety) didn't make a single tackle. And what the hell was Tressel thinking when he went for it on his own 29 yard line! Big mistake on so many levels. It only led directly to 3 points, but it sent a message that he was already desperate to his players. Bad move, bad coaching.

Anyway, it was a game for the ages for Gators everywhere. I won't be sleeping for awhile ...

Good luck tonight, Florida fans.I missed this 'til now, but I did wish a couple of Buckeyes I work with the same earlier.

You Buckeyes have 5 national titles? We Gators only have 2, so we've got a ways to go. The future looks bright with Meyer though.

It was a tough loss, especially with Ginn going out early and never returning.

Not so much, really, as T. Smith never had time to go long.

Well Ohio still won in a way. Gators had to go to the back woods of Ashtabula Ohio to find a winning coach and a Cinci player to make a nice score.

Ashtabula and Mentor are not realy that far away either. Tressel is OG from Mentor Ohio.

That was a great game. Florida took Ohio State out of the game early and they never recovered. They are clearly the better team....that D-line is SICK.

Ironically, they were my preseason pick to win it all, so I don't feel nearly as bad:)

Congrats Gators. It was a WELL earned victory.

Had the chance to go to school there and passed it up, stupid me! been to a ton of games!!

Great game as JP said saw my worst nightmare on the opening drive, but the Gators were tight!!!

They are clearly the better team....that D-line is SICK.The matchup of Florida's defensive ends vs OSU's tackles was the real key to the game. Moss and Harvey were unblockable. OSU's tackles looked slow and unathletic. I don't know if that's because they weren't ready to play or if it's because the Gator ends were that much stronger and faster.

One guy who should be beside himself is Marcus Thomas. He is the most talented of all of Florida's defensive linemen, but was kicked off the team in October for "rules violations". Too bad for him, he missed out on a lifetime event.

OSU really isn't that bad. I think the combination of the layoff and Ginn being hurt really deflated them. His being out really disrupted the flow of the game and allowed Florida to put a lot of pressure Troy. I tend to agree with Lee Corso when he said that if they played 10 times, Florida would win 3. I absolutely believe that OSU wouldn't have won that game last night, but with Ginn, it wouldn't have been a blow-out.

Last night they were clearly the better team and absolutely dominated OSU on both sides of the ball. The defense got their heads together in the 2nd half. Unfortunately for OSU, Troy Smith and Co. couldn't do the same.

You should see campus today. It looks like someone imploded the stadium. It's so quite and somber. You would think a nuke was let off in the city. I actually heard (and this is why I don't like most OSU fans) a woman call in to the radio this morning and say:

"Troy Smith threw that game. He wanted the Buckeyes to lose and I never want to hear his name again."

There will be a lot of people calling for Tressels job. Pathetic.

My local talk radio station is also screaming that the fix was in. If anything the offencive line was payed not Troy Smith.

I dont know how I feel about it all. The Bucs Played Double wide out all year with great success They only played it twice yesterday with yard gains. so why did they ditch their winning play? :look:

My local talk radio station is also screaming that the fix was in.

Reason #1001 the rest of the nation hates OSU fans. They can't grasp the fact we were beaten by a better team...fair-and-square.

Let me assure you that not all of us are artards. It's just that the irrational ones are also the loudest. Please don't judge us all based on a large group of morons.

Herbie said Florida was too strong and too fast, and they won the game in the trenches. He looked a little shaken right after the game, but his composure came back as the post game wore on.

I dont know how I feel about it all.The reality is that Florida is better. It wasn't luck, or spiked gatorade, or anti-gravity boots, or magic.

They are better, and proved it last night. Any other response to that game is irrational. (I'm saying this kindly ... not with chest-pounding)

there is a reason OSU didnt bring their game and it will all come out at some pointIsn't it more likely they brought their game and simply lost to a better team? That happens all the time. It happens to everybody. I remember well the soul-searching that went on in Gainesville in January 1996 after being pounded 62-24 by Nebraska. The answer: Nebraska was better.

Anyway, it's just a college football game. Next year is here now. I'll bet Meyer is off recruiting today.

First half of the game was great. Got bored in the second half when OH couldn't answer. It was definitley the year of the underdogs. Just look at the OK/BS game a couple weeks ago. OK fans are some of the most diehard you will find and most walked away with a smile on their face knowing they just watched one of the all time greatest games played even though we lost.

That's a game to own and watch over and over.

I would have to disagree with that. Florida was the better team, but Ohio State didnt bring their game at all. They were very flat from the beginning; they didn't play with any passion. I think they really bit themselves in the rear by treating the whole thing like a business trip instead of a National Championship game.

I really think that they planned this game around Ginn to spread Florida's defense. Once he went down, their game plan was shot.

The Gators played a fantastic game last night. Truly a top-level game.

Anyone that has watched the Buckeyes play earlier in the season can see that they didn't play well at all last night. Some of that, no doubt, attributed to an excellent Florida game plan.

It looked to me like, if OSU would have played a "normal" game, then this would have been one HELL of a match! Like the BS/OK game!

But, as it is, we sucked and we got beat BAD. End of story.

Congrats to the Gator fans!

Yeah, OSU definitely did not bring their game. Glad to see the SEC get the title game even though my LSU Tigers weren't on the receiving end of it. We still ended up #3. I think Tressel was just out-coached, and all the hype of the media saying Florida couldn't hang with OSU just added fuel to the fire. They said the same thing about LSU vs. Notre Dame. Before the game it was all ND and Brady Quinn...same with last night's game.

parsonsj
01-09-2007, 09:56 PM
DoRun, did you see the recent article about the LSU-Florida game? It said that in retrospect, that was the game that should have been the harbinger for the championship, rather than the Ohio State-Michigan game.

Florida won it 23-10 with amazing defense and enough offense (and 5 LSU turnovers). It was their best game prior to the OSU game. After watching your Tigers destroy Notre Dame, I'm amazed Florida beat them! JaMarcus Russell is a sure thing in the NFL (much more of a lock than Leak).

If the BUcks played the Browns last night It would still be in overtime 24 hours later. tied 7 to 7 :lmao:

I thought about it all day we flat out got beat but I still say they didnt play to the fullest.

JP,
I agree. The Tigers didn't show up to play ball against Florida just like OSU didn't with Florida. I said from the beginning of the year that LSU should open the game up with Jamarcus Russell airing one about 80 yards. We had the speed with our receivers. Instead it was the same old screen pass. This could have possibly took the wind right out of Florida from the beginning (just like I thouht the opening kick off would have the other night). All in all Florida improved every game this year. Great job Gators! Speaking of J. Russell, rumor is around town that Jamarcus Russell knelt at the end zone on both knees and threw the ball 65 yards in the air...on BOTH knees. That's all arm! Oh, and he's a complete ANIMAL in person. 6'5" approx 260 lbs. He towers over most of the team! We hope he comes back next year...doubtful though.

Chris
