I guess no one likes motorcycles? :dunno:
I posted a better pic above.

Looks pretty sweet, Kirt. I don't really know anything about motorcycles outside of my '78 Honda Express :headbang: . I've been curious as to whether or not somebody makes different wheels for the V-Rod. The solid spun aluminum thing just doesn't do it for me... a bit too '80s. Still a very cool bike, though. First one I've seen that isn't silver. Looks great in that blue.

A friend of mine has the silver one. Yours is the first blue one I have seen. Looks really nice. If I remember correctly I think he ran a high or mid 13 with it. With no traction at all.

B Cichocki: There are after market wheels, but they run about $3500 per set, parts for these things are WAYYYY HIGH. I am looking at a kit that puts a 280 mm wide tire on the rear.

CAMAROBOY69: Your friend must have been easy on it. People are running high 10's low 11's on stock bikes and in the low 9's on modified bikes. H-D came out with different color choices starting in '04.

I like it, Kirt. Congrats on the new purchase. Steevo has one, it's a bitchin' bike in person.

Love em, have a 01 bagger. Ride in mountains here regularly and look forward to Daytona and Sturgis :naughty: each year. V-rods are just too fast for us old folks.

V-rods are so sweet, that is my favorite production Harley ever. I love the styling of it. Makes me miss my bike, (108hp and 376 dryweight) I'm gonna have to get another one someday.

Hey now!! Congrats Kirt!! I love my V-Rod. If you have not already done so, check out www.v-rodforums.com. As for V-Rods being "too fast" even the missus can ride it. She has very little experience. Below 5000rpm it's quite docile. Above 5000 rpm? Make sure you are cleared for take-off!

Thanks Steeve. I found the v-rod furum before I bought the bike. I am already modifying the bike. 280 kit, mirriors from Tejas Thump Cycles, I just ordered the Gil's box. I'm still riding down here in Dallas, it's suppose to be in the 60's and sunny this weekend.

Crikey!! You'll kill the handling with a 280! Just go 240. Check out the sidewall on a 280. It's nonexistent. Lean, lean, lean, SCRAPE! You'll be riding on the rim. And the 280 puts your shocks waaaay out there but the mounts are in single shear. Not very smart. Too much flex.

On a more positive note, I just made a really cool front fender that hugs the stock 120x19 tire. No need to go to a 21. Lemme know if you wanna try.

I'll split the difference with ya, 250. Man, I thought cars were expensive, but with motorcycles I feel I'm getting raped. A half way decent set of wheels for $3500, very pricy IMO. I can get 2 sets of custom forged 3 piece wheels for $4400 for my camaro.

Do you have a pic of the fender?

Good call on the 250. Yeah--the prices are crazy. It's the middleman. The distribution network in the motorcycle aftermarket demands much bigger margins than the automotive aftermarket, so the manufacturers end up padding the prices to stay profitable. I just keep telling myself that I'm ahead of the game by starting with a V-Rod. More power, more rake, more tire, More! More! More!

Who wants $3500 for their wheels? I see Performance Wheels in the sizing you need, for around $1200/wheel. Were you including brakes in that price?
I'm building a 2001 FLHR custom bagger,at the moment.

Did some modifications to my scooter. Put a 240/40/18 on the rear, nitrous, HID, exhaust etc.

camaroboy- I ran a 10.23 at atco with that bike on a warm day with a street tire and no wheelie bar. Now with my monster motor I would probably go slower, bikes are like that sometimes.
Also you v-rod guys , very cool bikes. You probably know there is a little stuttgart in those motors (porsche helped develop them).

The show on the intrepid is this weekend, two of my friends work for the magazine that hosts it so i can get in without waiting on line for two hours. if anyone is going to the show pm me or post here. thanks for the compliment steve its made of three wrecked bikes so its funny when people see it and tell me it is immaculate!
