AMC on the dyno today

Some of you saw the pictures of Project Evil Spirit (79 AMC Spirit AMX)that I'm working on at the PT Dinner.
After some tuning on the Dyno this morning, Ted at Opel Engineering got 634 HP @ 6000 rpm, 606 lb ft at 4900 rpm. Not bad for a normally aspirated AMC engine, and no it doesn't have the latest Indy heads. It's got some old Herman Lewis aluminum ones, and the displacement is a secret.
We hope to debut this on the Power Tour along with Y Gen 3rd Gen. You can also count on it entering RSE.

Excellent numbers Jeff! Why is the displacement a secret?

I used to be an AMC freak having a S/C and a couple of AMX's. They are for spme reason coming on very strong. Those are great numbers for a AMC with the limitation of over the counter parts, plus the $$$ to buy them. I would guess a stroked 401 to 42???

To post pics, click the post reply button. Once you get to the posting screen scroll down to where it says "Manage Attachments". Click that button, and it will open a new window. Click one of the browse buttons and it will allow you to browse your comp and find the pic you'd like to post. Then click upload. The just post as normal, click submit reply and your pics should appear at the bottom of your post.

As you can see the front suspension and brakes are not done yet, the rear has an adjustable 3 link with panhard, coilovers, wilwoods.

The 79 AMC Spirit AMX project sounds cool. I used Opel Engineering to do all of the machine work on my FE motor for the mustang.

hey jeff i really like your car, i have an 81 spirit. I was wondering about your rims and tires. Could you tell me a little more about what they are, and where you got them?

It's not my car it's a customers. Though I wish it was mine. They are American Racing Equipment Torque thrust 2's 17x9.5 with a 5.75 backspacing. Centers custom painted Gray. I think they are a Mustang application. We are a dealer or ARE.

The wheels are originally off of a Mustang that belongs to the guy here in Wisconsin who did the rear suspension work on Evil Spirit. Jeff, do you know Dave? He does nice work in my opinion. His Mustang, while more of a track car, would be right at home on this site.

My Camaro is going to him in a couple of weeks for a few tweaks.
