I like the bottom one but I really like the top one. It might look cool with the SS painted. Maybe body color?

Very Nice. The last one goes best with your theme.

I like both. Any bets on when the first billet cap will get stolen and end up on a chain around someones neck in an MTV rap video?

I'll take either one--they both look great. So when do we find out more info on them?

I'm running the second one, this isn't a poll.. lol

I shot the first one from Marquez design. They didn't have a good pic of it installed, so I took one for them.

It's looks more blingy in the pic, most likely due to the flashes and such. The center area if brushed. The nice part is that it's engineered so you can take it apart and do finishes and the different parts. I think it would look great with the center area painted. Maybe black like the factory cap.

It really did look nice on the car, but the second cap goes with my theme and gives me a place to design a cut off switch for the track.

That 1st one is NICE... and probably costs a nice penny too

I think i am going to need one of those when my project gets to that point!

They both look killer Steve!

I know how hard it would be to polish the bottom of the first one. I also think a painted gas cap would not look cool; not in this paticular case anyway.

Good choice! As if any of our opinions matter? Your car, Your build!

I like it!

Wow look on both.. on thing i've learned about shiney things on a car is that they tend to disappear if not locked down... haha well at least in knoxville

Yep, that is the elusive "Larry Cap", but keep in mind that I didn't have to hook it up to a gas tank :)

Thought you guys would like to see how it will look mounted up. Same for the new Marquez cap.

The Marquez cap comes in several different styles. The amount of engineering in it is pretty cool.

Wanna trade ?? I have... I think the second cap ever installed... some two years ago when Larry let the cat out of the bag. I might need one that actually connects to the stock filler tube and tank.

Its an identical unit, without the tube extension.

That was the plan, but I forgot the silicone so I could re-assemble them.

I pulled them apart and painted the inner area (the brushed part) satin black to look more like the factory ones (and to tone them down a bit).

I am also in the process of putting in the American Auto Wire Sequential Tail Lights.

You mean without the ribbed metal extension? Email me at [email protected]

If it's in perfect shape and the same (locks) then I don't see why not. Mine is just gonna hide a switch.

Steve,

I seem to recall you said at one point you didn't want this car to be all jazzed up the way your blue car was. Penny seems nicer. Comments??

Steve,

If you compare the blue car to Penny you will see the difference. The '69 had polished this and chromed that, it looked like a show car. The only chrome on Penny are some of the OEM exterior parts like the bumper, door handles and that sort of think. Aside from the outer hoop of the rims there's nothing polished either. The engine bay has an factory look to it. Function was put over form, however if something could look good and still function as well (or better) then I figure what the heck.

I wanted the finished car to stand out for what it didn't have. I've spent far more time thinking of how to combine colors, textures and materials so that it's visually interesting to look at without going the traditional route of chrome and polish. This really shows up in the engine bay. The exterior looks much like it did when I got the car. The hood was swapped to a normal cowl, I replaced the window trim with OEM stuff and I added the "larry" gas cap. Oh, and I have some Marquez tail lights, but even they were painted to look more OEM. I want to have a factory look but with much higher quality materials.

The underside is just shot in a rubberized undercoat and the three-link (that needed paint anyways) was just powder painted in colors from the engine bay. The interior will have the same purposeful/factory/racecar look to it. Factory style carpet, no back seat and simple door panels. I do think Penny is nicer than my '69, but it was a totally different style of build. I hope every car I build is better than the one before.

I think the differences in the two cars can be summed up by what my wife said. "The blue '69 is like the girl you meet, take home to meet mother and then marry. Penny is the girl you really don't want your mother to know you're dating" lol

Oh, on the blue Camaro I would have ran the first gas gap (if it had a place for it)

Not a very good one.. here it is from SEMA. The wide-angle lens distorted it a bit.

I mailed a big box to you today :)

The marquez unit is a beautiful piece and would look killer on the right car. I think it would be even better with the center painted black.

Steve, i was thinking along the same lines on the Marquez cap but with the brushed center anodized black, keeping the brushed finish under the black anodizing of course though. i think that would look killer. i just wish someone made a cool billet pop-open mustang gas cap like my factory 69 GT cap but with some cool anodizing or other other cool finish. i've seen all the current billet mustang caps and they are all twist on style caps. i just don't understand why someone can't make pop-open billet mustang gas cap
