I just got back from the local auto recyclers.I was just killing time on the way home from work.I saw a 2000 S-10 that had unit bearing assemblies in the front spindles, which means it has a seperate hub and rotor.I know they will swap onto a g-body car.My question is can i use these spindles with 13" front brakes with camaro or corvette 2-piston calipers? If so what do i need in the way of brackets,or can i use the factory vette or camaro rotor brackets?

Nothing will directly bolt to the s-10 spindle.
BTW, the only ones that got the brake set up like that, are the 98+ S-10 Blazers. If that was in fact on an s-10 truck, then someone upgraded it.
Theres plenty of aftermarket places that will make brake kits to work with the 98+ blazer spindle.
Ed Miller's making just about any brake combo you could think of. You can brouse through some of the pages.

No problem. Starting in 98, the blazers, and blazers only, got upgraded brakes from the standard 10.5" single fixed piston that the trucks and g-bodies use. They've got 11" rotors and dual piston pbr calipers. Along with the divorced rotor/hub assembly.

So are the Blazer spindle a direct swap for other GMs like F bodies?

No, only direct swap the blazer spindle would replace would be the s-10 trucks, or the g-bodies.

Thanks again on the tech.It looks to me as if the spindle was the same for the 4x4 and the 2wd's.I was there again to day.I could be wrong but it looks like gm just changed the unit bearing and hub assem. Is this right?:hmm:

Here is a couple of links with a lot of info about the blazer spindles. I have the adapter bracket available to mount the 13" C5 rotors and calipers onto the blazer spindles. look for posts under the user name lt4xtreme or wheelz. http://www.montecarloss.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=18;t=003665 http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/brakes-suspensions-tires-wheels/186861-c5-brake-upgrade-using-blazer-spindles.html
The 11" blazer brakes are a great upgrade over the 10.5" stockers and you can always upgrade to the C5 stuff later.

One quick note, As I had mentioned while on the phone with Mark from SC&C, if you use the ZQ8 spindles and replace or remove the bearings from the spindle ALWAYS use a torque wrench and the proper torque and I have found for you can torque the spindle nut while wheel is setting in ground you will have less trouble nad less chance of bearing failure.
While sealed are better they are suseptible to over/under torqueing and will fail in short order if improperly (ie impacted on) installed.
Use factory torque specs and a quality replacement bearing is recomeneded.
Good luck

OH and if I dont get a set of these I will use AFX spindles on my Monza as it already has a Gbody/S10 spindle conversion done,,heck if brakes are bigger the Blazer spindles I may upgrade on my way to Vette brakes.
I am even thinking of swapping in 12 S10 rear disc soon too. L

Thanks for the info.As A note to any one wanting to use discount auto parts(advance, autozone, etc.)
There unit bearing assemblies dont last long.
This was mentioned in another thread reguarding afx spindles and corvette bearings.
I put a set in my awd 97' bravada last winter and they sound like they did when they went bad the first time.
This time i will use gm parts. And they were put on correctly with a torque wrench,to gm specs.
As far as the reason for the first post I was wanting to use the blazer spindles just to get the big brakes.
Since b-body spindles dont seem to be favorites around here, which is what I had with the hotchkis arms before i had found this site.
I just wanted to change it up and get big brakes for cheap.Kinda like we do with the camaro and nova spindles.
