Does any one have a suggestion for a light weight manual steering box for the first gen camaro? I'm looking for a light weight box with a 20:1 ratio. This is for a dedicated race car. Any info suggestions are appriciated.

I can tell you which one you should probably stay away from, but it is only based on a sample size of 1. The lightweight Flaming River box in Sean's car is really loose on/slightly off center, like it is worn. We sent it back, they looked at it and deemed it good, but it ain't. If you tighten the adjustment to reduce the play near zero steer angles, it gets really tight at higher angles. No rocket science needed to diagnose that.
Warm this winter out there I hear, eh?

62 degrees in january. Knock knock. Who's there? The apocalypes.
I remember talking to sean about that box but I thought it was a power box. Check you're intermail.

The only box I've got reliable feed back on is the Flaming River and it's not been good. Any body else? Light weight manual box for a first gen camaro?

I don't think so, and they're not aluminum.

The Corvair was supposed to use an aluminum box, but I don't know if it would fit in a Camaro.
you could also try a manual rack and pinion.
