Wicked 510!

Here is some Toyota madness, but destined to see the drag strip.

a friend of mine, Ernest Withers (he runs around with The Real) has a 71 240Z with a Buick aluminum V/8 motor (like the Rovers had in them until a few years ago)..he's now building another 240Z with a twin turbocharged Lexus V/8 in it. He also has a Mercedes Coupe with a Chevy V/8..He's also working on a 65 or 66 Mustang Fastback..he owned it years ago and it was in Hot Rod and several other magazines...It had a blown Chevy in it of all things. He's putting a Windsor in it now with a custom Fuel injection system he made.

Here's a Japanese one we are just finishing up.
It's a 97 Nissan 240SX, aka Silvia S14 in Japan.
We put a LS1 and 6 speed in it. It was 24lbs lighter than the iron block 2.4 DOHC 4 cylinder that came out of it.

I'm not surprised. Ive heard of several other people swapping out small displacement OHC engines for aluminum block LS engines, only to find that the LS engine weighs less than the original.

a guy I used to know had a 510 that was pretty neat. It was set up for the drag strip though. It had an injected 468 BBC in it with a tube chassis. I think it ran low 8's this was back in 1991. I think it may have even been in popular hotrodding in the late 80's or early 90's.

Gah, that guy stole my Corolla idea! I want to do a '77 Celica GT fastback, though, as seen below. The 1uzfe is one of Toyota's best motors. Forged crank, 6-bolt mains, aluminum heads and block, 4-valve DOHC heads. My '92 SC400 still runs like new.

These cars are so cool and look like mini Mustangs! The coupes look like mini first gen Firebirds. I'd rock either as a DD if I didn't live in the rust belt. There were a few that came up on craigslist recently for just a few thousand, if I had some extra garage space I'd have snapped them up!
