Where can I find information about the Oldsmobile small blocks? I just want to learn more about them. About a year ago I passed on a late model Seville because I didn't know enough about the engine. It had a running "rocket" 350, and 4 wheel discs, all of which I could have swapped to my '76 Malibu.

I heard you can put big block heads on an Olds mill?

I'm just interested in learning whatever I can about them so I don't get caught ignorant again.

Pros, cons?

www.realoldspower.com last time I was there they were a pretty wild bunch. However, they have the best oldmobile tech around. Those guys are pretty hardcore. They are not restoration people. They build the snot out of Olds motors and are very proud of these engines.

Rocket only means that it is an Olds motor nothing more, nothing less. It's just what Oldsmobile decided to call their engines.

www.442.com (http://www.442.com) very good info but a good bit of it can be noted as not completely accurate

www.oldspower.com (http://www.oldspower.com) a good site for the 80's olds crowd. decent technical info but not the best.

www.realoldspower.com (http://www.realoldspower.com) Definitely the best knowledge base by FAR above all the rest. However if your going to frequent this board please if you dont already have thick skin, then grow some. There is so much flaming and bashing on this site it's not even funny. And whatever you do DON'T ever mention/ask for advice on swapping an engine into your car that is NON olds. You will feel the full wrath of the board and this is an understatement.

Oh one more thing I thought of about the realoldspower website. If your looking for any info other than an all out drag car your info may not come too willingly. If your not going as fast as possible in a straight line then the crowd on the site can be a bit "harsh."
