I did try a search on this but I didn't find anything on the topic.

I was gonna try to knock out my new door hing bushings today. Had no idea what I'd be running into. :)

Seems the factory has a real nifty idea on how to keep that one bushed pin in place too. (I'm working the upper hinge)

Is there something I'm missing here? Should I be grinding off that metal edge that looks like it's purpose in life is to ensure the pin never "rides up" and out? If I do, shouldn't I then be concerned about how the pin stays in place afterwards? :hmm:

Help a bro' out! I'm gonna go look at the Service Manual now,...but I'm not really expecting any answers there!

Where did you buy them from. A buddy of mine did this in a Chevelle a few years ago (err, I did it in his Chevelle a few years ago). We ground the 2 pinched flanges off and the bushing kit came with a spring type clip which went over the trimmed end to serve the same purpose. Is there anything like that in your package?
http://www.mcmaster.com/Do a search on "Retaining rings".
This is the sort of thing we got and used.

Ricks First Gen supplied them.........along with some new sheetmetal.

I only received bushings though, no new spring retaining clip or anything extra. :(

"Pinch Flange" eh,.... that's a heck of a name for the brute force they must have used to make that steel roll back like that. :) LOL

I used Ricks because I had read that people recommended them for sheetmetal, but damn, I'm not really feelin' the love on the service from them so far. It's been a little less than stellar.

The clips supplied worked and still do, but if you have access to a lathe (mine was down at the time) I would machine a groove into the pin anc use a C clip for better retention.

I have an extra set of bushings, and pins, but no spring clips. I would think the clips would be available at the locate ace hardware. If you are interested pm me. I'll make you a great deal
