Just thought I'd share some pics of my new rear wheels and tires. My car has DSE deep tubs, but I was running the standard 275/40/17 on a 9.5" wheel until now. The previous owner who had the tubs installed never bought the wider wheels, and it was a shame having that much room for tires and not using it.

I decided to stick with the tied and true TT2's that were on the car since I didn't really feel like buying 4 new wheels right now. The cool thing is that the wheels were an off-the-shelf part at Summit (17x11 w/ 7.75" backspacing) and I only paid $260 a wheel. I'll probably be putting the old 9.5" wheels on the front of the car with some 275's to even out the handling and look.

Eventually, I'd like to have the centers of the wheels painted or powdercoated a charcoal metallic to match my stripes. At least that way they will be a little different than all the other TT2's out there.

That looks great. I just got a 68. How much tire and wheel can I run with a stock width rearend? What size are you running on the front?

Thanks. On a stock (not tubbed) car you can do a 17x 9.5" wheel with a 5.5" backspace. A 275/40/17 is about as big as you should go.

Right now, I just have some 235/45/17's on 8" wheels. These were on the car when I got it, but I will be putting the 9.5" wheels that came off the back on the front. The 6.5" backspace seems to work well with the Wayne Due subframe, and a 275/40/17 in the front should be fine.

Most guys with stock subframes are running 245's in the front of these cars.
