Now that I am getting everything together for the EFI on my new engine I have a question concerning fuel pumps. Most of what I have read indicated that using an in tank pump is the way to go, in fact some people that I have talked to say its the ONLY way to go.
My question is this, other then the cooling affect of the pump sitting in fuel (at least while the tank is 1/2 to full) what is the benefit?
Does'nt an in tank pump run just as much risk of cavitating as an external pump? Seems like a baffle around the pickup (regardless of pump location) would be more important.
Ultimately what I need to decide is whether or not I use the external pupm and filter that I already have or locate a tank with the internal pump to use.
I cant mount a fuel cell in my trunk, so that is not an option either.
