How much lighter would aluminum shocks be? Most are steel right?

Not enough of a difference to be concerned with. Aluminum is lighter yes but, it takes "more" of it to do the same job as the equivalent in steel. I can compare my aluminum bodied Vari-Shocks to a similar steel shock and not really notice a difference in weight, it is minimal at best.

Aluminum shocks necessarily have thicker walls so the weight is probably close the that of the steel-tubed ones...
Don't worry about material, just get the best shock you can afford, shocks make the biggest difference in your ride quality next to tires. :woot:
