Hey all, I just wanted to say I am new here and any suggestions for the car or places to get parts would be greatly appreciated. I originally wrote out a long paragraph for this but it got erased and I am a little tired so I cant type anymore but this site looks like a good source of information to turn my Formula into a g-machine and I cant wait to get started! :)

Hey, yeah I will be sure to get some pics tommorow, it as painted purple in its past which has got to go. Some things I would like advice on is power adders such as nitrous and turbos especially. I was thinking of going as far as a turbo set up on the rebuilt and modded 400 engine and a controlled amount of nitrous. Also anything that could be told for good braking/suspension mods would be great to know! Thanks again for the welcome!

As you can tell by the tag it was quite optioned... Let me know what you think. I already know the engine and paint is undergoing a extreme makeover!

I know I cant wait! The Rip 'N Tear was compliments of my dad lol he slapped it on there one day unknown to me and I never took it off. I just dont know where to start... It looks like you did a total rebuild on your car and BTW it looks sweet, what did you do first?

HAHAHA total rebuild...that's a good one! I wish...actually what you see is just the same Tijuana paint job it has had since I bought it almost 10 years ago, plus some new scars, interior never touched, weatherstripping shot, etc. It's a "20-footer" right now...if you get up close you can see that it needs about another $10-15k in miscellaneous shtuff. Thankfully I've got the drivetrain and suspension pretty much sorted out though...that's the important thing to me. The first thing I did was the engine, then suspension, then tranny, then wheels, then rearend, and now finally brakes.

If you have the time and resources may I suggest doing yours the right way (not the way I've done mine), and do a subframe-off rebuild? If you can. It's much less effective to do it one piece at a time as you drive it...but I guess either way it can work.

Anyway thanks for the compliment--keep me updated on your project!

Paul

Thats what I am hoping to do is a complete teardown! I thought yours looks pretty good and it is giving me some inspiration for mine already. I love that cowl hood and it would resolve my clearence issues and how did that manual swap go for you? I have a thread in Manual Transmission section right now as I want to put a 5 speed in mine. What were some issues you ran into if any and do you remember what you had to buy to convert yours? Any information would help me out alot! Thanks!

Glad you like the crossbred drag-race/roadrace machine that my car has evolved into! Don't expect the Pontiac lovers to like it though...
In case you decide to go with a cowl hood, I got mine from http://carhoods.com/ so you might check it out.
Also I have a brief rundown with pics of my tranny swap at my car domain site (link in my signature)
Have you checked out Keisler and Classic Chevy 5-spd yet? They can supply you with all the parts for the tranny swap in one shot...
