new gto interior in chevelle

installing a gto interior in my 70 chevelle, seat's are from a 04 gto black leather. fit the driver's and passenger seat today . will need to pull out the carpet to weld new brackets i made to the floor. the back seat i think will be a challange to build a filler panel on the side's or i may split the seat and make the center wider.

I don't think many Chevy guys would get their britches in a wad over Poncho parts on a bowtie. However, if you were putting Impala seats into a Goat you would indeed require the donning of personal protective equipment.

As for the purists, screw 'em! My 442 has Camaro seats, a big block Chevy, Ford 9", painted bumpers, and shaved door handles (on NOS doors!). If that doesn't piss them off...

Looks great! My advice (from experience) is to separate the rear seats, enlarge the center panel, and have that recovered.

The trouble I ran into with my front seat installation is that the GTO seats were designed to "sit down in the floor" in the '06 they came out of, rather than where they must be mounted in my '65. That makes the up-and-down movement largely useless, except for access to wiring and mounting hardware. The floor countours also forced the seats pretty far inboard in my application, and I think I'm going to have to do some cutting on the tracks to get them closer to the doors.

Matt did you use the new seat in the rear? post some pic's . i am going to replace the panel in the seat where it say's GTO with factory material when i know what i have to recover for the rear seat.

mike the guy i got the seat's from buy's wreck's and part's them out i think he wanted 4500.00 for the motor and auto trans.

I actually have an LS2 and T56 out of an 05 GTO sitting in my shop that is destined for my 65 El Camino. I didn't think you were planning a change of power in that very nice Chevelle. The seats do look good and surely will improve your comfort level.
