battery cable

hey everyone. a friend gave me some 2/ga fine strand welding cable, can i use this as battery cable for my trunk mount battery project. he gave me like 35 foot of cable. and its ok to mount an optima battery in the trunk without it in a sealed box right mike

2 gauge cable will work, in fact it is what DSE using in the battery relocation kits they sell. You can also mount the battery w/o a sealed box UNLESS you are going to participating in events, drag racing, etc where rules may dictate the need for a sealed box.

do not plan to drag race, just bad planing on my part, got a nice stainless sealed battery box, its to big for where i want to put it mike
