In my El Camino, it looks like the stock LS1 pulley setup will work with just a little notching of the front of the crossmember to clear the AC lines. Depending on whose mounts you're using, you might not even have to do that.

On my '65 with S&P mounts the stock F-body pulleys wont clear the steering gear. The corvette ones work but you do have some clearance issues with the a/c and the crossmember.

My 72 Chevelle Wagon with an Ls1 I bought has the street and performance billett pulleys and brackets that move the a/c and alt out on top seem to have alot of room.......

Heres a pic of my S&P setup. It uses a polished Corvette water pump with a Camaro balancer. The AC unit clears without modifcation to the frame when using thier mounts. S&P made this kit for me because I couldnt run thier regular type Chevelle kit. I needed everything to fit tight, so I room for the turbos.

if you can get the camaro bracket system from an F body, the Ac might clear because it moves it forward about 1.5 inches. It might clear. if you slide the engine forward just a tick it really should fit. just my 2 cents

If you're running A/C, you'll need to notch the front crossmember. No real getting around that, unless you want to get bent over by one of the aftermarket bracket systems.

does anyone make conversion motor mounts for an LS2 in a 1969 Chevelle?

No difference between any of the LS-x motors or any of the Chevelles...

I know that, but who makes motor mounts for LSx motors in a 69 Chevelle?

ATS, and S&P come to mind. As does Hooker.

I know that, but who makes motor mounts for LSx motors in a 69 Chevelle?

The adapters are universal, in that they adapt a standard small block motor mount to the LSX engine. So any car that uses a standard Chevrolet motor mount could use these adaptors to mount an LSX into it.

My friend used the CTS-V LS-2 oil pan with no mods. Fit right in the stock frame

I just ordered the same pan and I have confirmed with others that have done it that it does indeed fit.

Now, every adapter places the engine differently (hieght and distance to firewall) and you can place the frame mounts anywhere you want on the front crossmember as well. So, there are several variables that can effect the header and oil pan fitment.

My frame doesn't have SB frame mount holes drilled into it, so I will be placing the engine where I want it with the frame mounts bolted to the motor mounts, then welding the frame mounts to the crossmember when I get everything where I want it.

The cts-v LS2 pan clears the chevelle crossmember?

The 68-72 Chassis are all the same..............

Street and Performance is the name of the company.

You'll need the pan, gasket, and pickup tube from a CTS-V.

The guy I talked to had made his own adapters which were based on the S&P plates, but he desgined them so the engine would sit lower and more towards the firewall, like the ATS plates do.

I'm using the ATS kit and CTS-V pan. It should be here any day now. Then I can start mockup.

The two guys I know are using stock frames and they fabed up their own plates based on the Street and performance plate. By the way that company is pretty much the most disorganized operation I have ever came across. No one knows anything. When holding to talk to their "header guy" SEVEN different people come on the line during my hold time asking "Who are you holding for". And for being in the business for as ling as they have been why is there a 4 week back order on lsx 1st gen f body headers???

I am not a big fan of S&P either. The problem is, their parts are cheap and convenient. They have everything in you think you need for a conversion in one place and if you are doing a show car, that stuff works fine.

I can honestly say every part I received from S&P has failed, been replaced, or reworked. If you take the cheap way, it will cost you in the long run.
