It's not only a matter of a re-match, Florida is a conferance champ, and not only that but it's arguably the toughest conferance right now. Michigan didn't win thier conferance championship. I believe the teams playing for the crystal ball should be a conferance champion first. We saw the Sooners lose a Big 12 title game afew years ago, skip over Auburn and get blown up by USC. Now, I am a staunch Sooner fan but I don't think the BCS worked that year.

LOL!!! We lost by a field goal...how is that a butt-whipping? And as far as what happened yesterday, we got screwed by the voters. This was more about voting AGAINST a rematch then it was voting for the 2 best teams. Michigan was ahead of Florida the entire season...we earned the right to play Ohio State for the National Championship and have been denied that right because of politics. They don't want two Big Ten teams competing for the Title....that's all this is about. Florida does not deserve to go....I'm sorry but Michigan would pummel them in a matchup. Ohio State should be sending all those voters Christmas cards for keeping us out of the championship game. It would have been real interesting to see what would have happened at a nuetral site.
It just goes to show, the voters have always hated Michigan and the Big Ten. And they always will. This is almost as bad as '97 when the voters gave a share of OUR national title to Nebraska as a little retirement gift to Tom Osbourne.

I respectfully disagree. The National Championship should be contended for by the 2 best teams in the nation. That has always been the premise of the BCS. Michigan and Ohio State are clearly the 2 best teams in the nation and should be playing in that game. Instead, the voters allowed themselves to be swayed by all the SEC blowhards at CBS and ESPN and Meyer's belly-aching to the press or anyone else who would listen. At least one guy at ESPN has his head screwed on right....

Seems to me that, while close, the college football experts see Florida as the second best team in the country. As evidence, I'm looking at the Harris and AP polls. There is no way it is clear.
SEC blowhards? Tell that to Auburn, who missed out in 2004 despite going undefeated.
Bellyaching? I think Lloyd Carr has some explaining to do to his players. Why wasn't he lobbying? He should have been out making the case for his program. The fact that he didn't lobby hurt his case.
I grant you the decision was close. I also stipulate that Michigan had a phenomonal year. But they are not head and shoulders above all the other teams. They better get their helmets buckled on tight, because USC will be waiting for them in Pasadena. I'm a USC anti-fan, so I'll be rooting for Michigan.
And finally, this is college football. It's a bunch of 18-21 year old kids playing a game. We should be having fun with all this!

That is very true, I have no arguement for that. In fact, at lunch today I was listening to a sports radio program and all the callers were complaining about just that. That Carr doesn't do much lobbying for his players or for the Heisman either. It just sucks is all. We had a great year, then we lose Bo, lose the game, and now lost out on a chance for the National Title.

This really sucks- I (by virtue of being a Wolverine) have hated Ohio Mistate since birth (almost as much of Notre Dame), and now live in Gator infested NE FL. I must admit, in the SEC games, I rooted for them, but now this is just pure punishment. The Football Karma just isn't with me this year...
Who do I root for, Big Ten (I won't go as far as Tony, you brave soul... go wash your mouth out with soap), or the local boys? My daughter is set to chose between MI and FL. This could get ugly!
Well- at least we get to beat up on USC, again. Is it possible Pete Carrol might lose 3 in one year? Damn- football karma again.
And to boot- Troy Smith has to be an absolute lock for the Heisman. What an impressive player.

I'm a Gator alumnus, and I couldn't hate those schools from Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama more. Yet come bowl season, I root for all of the SEC schools. I will admit to rooting against FSU and Miami (and USC and Notre Dame) every week, including bowl week. Here in the heart of the GatorNation, it's been a very good year indeed. Not only does Florida get to play for the NC, but Miami had such a poor season that they fired Larry Coker, and FSU imploded to the point they "bought out" nepotism's poster boy Jeff Bowden. That's awesome!

Twas the night before game time, and all round the Shoe,
Not a creature was sleeping, they were saying “Florida who?”
The banners were hung by the lamp posts with care
In hopes that St. Troy would find Ginn through the air.
Drunken and crazy and burning their beds,
While visions of kick off danced through their heads.
When all of the sudden there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the keg to see what was the matter.
When there in the sky, in a Coupe Deville sleigh,
Was Woody Hayes decked out in scarlet and gray.
He looked on the crowd that was gathered around,
And said that he heard that a game was in town.
I came here to watch it, and wish you good luck.
Though it's not like you need it, cause Florida Sucks!

I will let our 6 (soon to be 7) national championships since 1950, and 6 (soon to be 7) Heisman trophies vs
*ichigan's 1/2 and 3, (un)respectively tell the story. *ichigan may have started the tradition, but OSU perfected it. As long as Gomer Pyle is in charge of Blue, OSU will keep on winning.

The only issue here is that they have no conference title game, as in the SEC and the majority of every other big conference. Technically speaking, I have never understood how you can compare a conference champ if you have no title game, regardless of what happened during the season! After seeing FL play ARK in the title game, it further enhanced my feeling of this will end up being a blow out for OSU. In a perfect world of college football, FL and MI would be playing the +1 game for the right to meet OSU in the championship game. So, until that time, everyone will have an opionion, just like everyone has a pooper!

I'm hopeful this game is not the blowout some of the enthusiastic OSU fans think it will be. I'm remembering 3 Rose Bowl games in particular:

1976: UCLA 23, OSU 10.
In all 3 games, Ohio State came into the game ranked #1, with their legendary coach Woody Hayes at the helm.

HAHAHAH I severely doubt it will be a blowout. We are not playing Notre F-N Dame this year (I LOVE Michigan compared to them). Florida has a lot of speed on the corners. OSU is going to have to spread them out quite a bit. The real challenge will be the Florida front line. If they can stop the run, it will be veddy veddy interesting.

So by that accord, we should throw out Ohio State's Northern Illinois, Cincinnati, and Bowling green victories? And USC? They played as many conference chuckle-heads as the rest of them did (Az, AzSt, Wash, WashSt, Stanford?).

BCS does suck.
I only wish we would have played Wisconsin. They are the greatest 3rd place team in any conference's history of the sport. Unfortunately there are too many teams in the Big 10.
OSU may play some cupcakes, but all teams do. It helps keep the money in state and helps out their brother/sister universities. OSU has a strong relationship with the other universties in the state, and playing them strengthens that. They also are the only team in the history of college football to play 3 number 2's in one season (not to shabby). They may not have the strength of schedule that teams like FLA and USC have (which I dont understand because Notre Dame and the Pac10 sucks), but they make do with what they get.
We played Texas the last 2 years, Miami of FL the next 2 years, and then USC the 2 years after that. Granted Miami didnt play well this year, but I dont see USC scheduling non-conference games like that (except OSU in 2 years). You can't claim Notre Dame because they are overrated, USC plays them every year, and did I mention they suck?

As a current USC student all I gotta say is UCLA beat us fair and square and I give them props for that, they played great. Although disappointed that we didn't make it to the championship, I'm rather glad we didn't. I had serious doubts going into the Rose Bowl and thought Michigan was gonna kick our butts, especially after watching Michigan's competitiveness when they played OSU, but we pulled it out. Although we did pretty good against them, I think OSU would've kicked our asses. So, when Monday comes you can find me rooting for OSU, and right now I'm sitting here rooting for Notre Dame, but it ain't looking good.

MI had 3 good drives, two wound up being turnovers. They should have won, but Carr didn't lead them in the 2nd half. I give USC big props for exploiting all UM's weaknesses: Hall at corner (too small, not physical enough to defend Garret / Jarret), placing more emphasis on the right side (stopping Hart), and passing over the other DBs. Mich's line is usually solid as hell, but USC pressured Henne just enough to force things.
Biggest props to Pete Carrol for out-coaching Lloyd Carr. Same thing Tressel did. Again. Can we unfreeze Bo please?
As for being the whinniest, I don't get that. I guess if you're a fairweather fan jumping on the bandwagon, it's easy to throw **** like that out there. Funny how all the OSU shirts and **** are now out there. We'll see if they stick with your returning team next year.

OHC you had me until you threw out that bandwagon crap! I'm a born and bread Buckeye, Brown and Indians fan... and I've NEVER waivered from that! Not even when we went undefeated until the last game of the season and TSUN beat us and we didn't get to go to the Rosebowl... do you know what year that was? You can use both hands! LOL It was the same year that the Browns pulled chalks and left the state and the same year that MLB conspired to go on strike just so my Indians couldn't win it all!
Meat-chicken didn't win the Big 10. (period) Carr whined and whined about deserving a shot at the national championship... rematch, rematch... so much so that it affected his team and they couldn't even pull out a bowl game win!
And as Ricky Bobby said "If you ain't first, your last." M = L
Add to your diatribe that my bride is a born and bred FSU fan... I cheer for her team come game time and she does the same for my Buckeyes. Oh btw Bobby Bowden won his bowl game, Lloyd Carr didn't. FSU took a lot of heat this year but I didn't see any other team out there fielding as many freshman as the 'Noles either. FSU will be tough in 07 and may win it all in 08. I do think it's crap that Jeff Bowden got a $.5M buyout though...
Bobby Bowden & Jim Tressel are class acts. I've never seen either one of them back hand a player after coming off the field or scream at their players or whine about deserving another shot after they lost. Carr needs to switch places with Bo. If I were playing for him I'd probably have to help facilitate that...
Nothing personal OHC (Really) but you know how it is between the Bucks and TSUN. We'd have beat them in the championship, USC would have been a good game and I was cheering for UCLA that whole game... as for Flori-duh... I have a good gator soup recipe if you want it.
It's gonna be ugly... (c:]

p.s. TSUN = That State Up North... there are many homes in the great state of Ohio where you can't say the M-word! Seriously! Woody Hayes would spend the night in Toledo every time they had to play up there b/c he refused to let his players sleep on MI soil... he also wouldn't buy gas up there!

I think OH (IO!) Cbird meant down in Florida where he is at. It is not uncommon to see a lot of Buckeye stuff down there; most Ohioians tend to move to Fl as they get older. It was actually kind of funny visiting my Grandmother before she moved to Vegas. Just about every house on her road had an OSU flag in the yard.
I can totally see his bandwagon point in Columbus though. I have been an OSU fan since I was 5 years old (you should see my Buckeye room - jerseys, autographs, pictures frame, etc...I am bordering on mental sickness). Anywhoo, I have relatives that HATED, I mean HATED the Buckeyes during the Cooper era. Now that they have won a few games, they claim to be avid fans. I disavow all knowledge of their existence as Buckeye fans. Some of them were even avid Michigan fans for 15 years until OSU started winning under Tressel. It’s like all these yahoos who now care about Buckeye basketball. 3 years ago, they couldn’t care less. Once this recruiting class is gone and we start to lose a few more games per year, they will probably sink into oblivion again.
The psychology of it all makes sense. People want to feel good. What makes them feel good is winning, so they will flock to that source when needed. Fortunately for me I am miserable. Go Bucks!
