Black Wheels

I am thinking of running some 17" black steelies on my nova for a while till I decide what wheels I really want to run. I think it will give it the street fighter look. What do you all think?

Go for it--then post some pics! Watch out for some of those wheels though, which are actually truck wheels. Like the Cragar Soft 8, they look cool but weigh like 40 lb, I found out the hard way.

I have black US Wheels on the 'cuda. They are 17x8 and 17x9.5 with 8 3" holes. They showcase thebrakes pretty well and look good, although they are a little heavier than your typical steelie. If they were lighter I would definately invest in some race rubber and put them on for track shoes. I eventually will get the Gasser D's or Intro Mulhollands.
My advice would be to get a set of light steelies that can serve as dragrace/open track wheels that you can fit with race rubber and slap on for track days. That should be obvious, but the reason I bought mine was to just get it rolling. I had put big Willwoods on and it had 14 inchers. The wheels were $49 and $55, but they are too heavy to race.

HAHA I guess you had the same idea as me, look tough and go fast on the cheap! I also wanted to get a set of steelies with race tires installed, for track days only.
I ordered one to test fit but I knew I had a problem when I almost got a hernia lifting the box! :doh: I could use these things on a big rig! Same problem with the comparable US Wheels you mentioned.
You're right, they work fine for a cruiser but for a performance car no way. Too bad, because they look way cool and they're dirt cheap.

The Cragar and US Wheel are the exact same piece. One of 'em own the other. I saw them in Summit and was like, " Steel wheels! Cheap! They look good." And later, "Doh!"

Exactly, got mine from Summit too...I didn't even send mine back because it wasn't worth the cost of shipping! So who makes a cheap, light, NASCAR-looking rim? Or are there only expensive ones?
