I've seen the commercial now for the Year One Forza Challenge thing. Does anyone know of this or any particulars? It sounds like it's gonna be cool.

From what I know is that it's a real-life version of the video game. Different cars are competing in several events, earning upgrades and mods along the way. It's set to air in February.

My cousin was on the Corvette crew but isn't budging on the details, something about confidentiality agreements and such. I kinda wanna watch it just to see him smiling in the background.

cant wait to see it, I heard it was awesome. wish i knew more about it. I seen the commercial in the hotel at SEMA. I think you are correct on how it works but not 100% on that. I also seen it said february, but i wonder what day it starts. I do know its a 4 episode show. Cant wait to see it.

I found this on speedtv.com

Forza Motorsport Showdown, produced by Bud Brutsman of the popular SPEED reality show Payback, is scheduled to begin airing in February 2007. The four-episode series will be hosted by Lee Reherman, best known as ‘Hawk’ from the hit television show, American Gladiator.

Each episode follows a diverse group of racers through a rigorous roster of competitive motor sports disciplines – drifting, road racing, autocross and drag racing – in a $100,000 winner-take-all format. Forza Motorsport Showdown, inspired by the realism of the on-line, multi-player vehicle customization and tuning features within the game, puts contestants to the ultimate test of high-performance driving and mechanical skills.

“These are real people, real crews and real cars battling it out for a significant prize,” said Robert Ecker, VP of Programming for SPEED. “It’s a very visually appealing production, with an incredible amount of drama and suspense. Each team and personality has to excel in all of the racing categories to have a chance. There’s not a lot of room for error.

“This was the first time SPEED had been approached about doing a video game-based reality series offering a serious prize – while providing a wider appeal to a more youthful audience,” Ecker continued. “To Microsoft Games Studios’ credit, they didn’t want this to be an infomercial about Forza Motorsport 2. They wanted this to be a stand alone show with its own reality twists and uninhibited drama. It’s a very refreshing approach.”

“In essence, gaming is reality-based entertainment in its purest form,” said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of global marketing, Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business. “The upcoming Forza Motorsport Showdown series demonstrates how great games can be a creative force for telling compelling stories in other media such as television and film.”

Forza Motorsport 2, the sequel to Microsoft Game Studios’ award-winning, fully customizable driving simulator Forza Motorsport, will make its exclusive debut on Xbox 360 early next year. With authentic simulation physics, bone-jarring damage, photo-realistic graphics, and a myriad of real-world tuning and customization options, the franchise improves on the unprecedented features gamers enjoyed in its debut installment. Loaded with more than 300 of the worlds hottest cars to collect, personalize and tune from the automotive industry’s leading companies, Forza Motorsport 2 gives players a complete racing experience. More information on Forza Motorsport 2, can be found by visiting www.xbox.com or www.forzamotorsport.net.

There were 6 cars that participated: Year One had a 69 Dynacorn Camaro with a 572 and a 6 speed, they also had a 73 Cahllenger with a 440, tap shifted 4L60E automatic and full air suspension, Godfathers had a turbo 350Z, Royal Purple had another turbo 350Z, LG Motorsports had a 05 Corvette, and Air Ride Technologies had a 2005 Mustang with a Vortech/ aftercooler and full air suspension.
There were 8 races...2 drag races, 1 drifting competition, 1 circle track competition, 1 autocross, and 2 roadcourse races. Then there was the last 15 lap open track race at Road Atlanta. Winner of the whole deal got $100,000. There will be 4 episodes of a reality type show that will air on Speed around February. I was there for the last 3 days of filming...fun squared.

they had the video of it racing going on right behind it lol, dont feel bad though, i was paying more attention to the car, any 10 footer in SEMA HAS to be a performer. From the vids it did pretty well.

the videos they showed made it look intresting. im definitly gonna watch it.

I know they chose 6 drivers for the event but I can't understand how they even out the competition. Do they switch of cars add weight for winning etc?

Was at the Year One Brasselton Bash last month. The Challenger and the Camaro were out on display looking like they had just come off the track, Rubber on the qtr's, dusty, smelling of race gas!!!
The 69 Camaro had Detroit Speed's Quadra link rear suspension and thier front upper and lower control arms (not sure if it had a stock or DSE's Sub-Frame) car had full fenderwells and HUGE brakes all the way around.
Would like to have seen more but it started to RAIN. So we packed up and hauled.

You basically start out with a mildly modified vehicle and the winner get "points" that can be "cashed in" for upgrades.

The Challenger had ShockWaves under the front and an AirBar and ShockWaves under the rear. 18" wheels, BFG tires, Wilwood brakes, 440 engine, Bowler E-shifted 4L60 e automatic, Cerullo seats.
