Guy right down the street from me "had" a real nice Harley, that he'd been riding religiously all summer. The other day I saw him outside with another guy, then a few minutes later the 2nd guy drove off on his bike. I yelled over and jokingly asked if I could take a test ride as well. He turned toward me and had tears streaming down his face. I went over and without a word he walked around the corner of his garage and pointed at a brand new mini-van. He was one upset puppy........
Wow, brutal.
If I ever decide to get married I'll have a binding contract stating the sports cars stay...

My wife hates minivans. She has an SUV. I have 3 vehicles. The priorities with 2 kids places the vehicles last, but she is a gearhead too, so they will never leave.

We have a minivan. 2 actually. My wife blew the transmission out of the first one racing some kid from a stoplight. We couldn't live with out them. 4 kids and sometimes 5 or 6 when friends come over.
It took a LONG time for me to be able to have both a family car and a fun car.

My wife is looking into getting a car next year, I am pushing a small SUV, she wants a mini van. But its her car. I can only push so hard. She lets me spend whatever we can afford on my Camaro, so I cant complain too hard.
Now lets see...wheels, stereo, paint, suspension, is there a modified mini van forum?

My wife has the Pilot. She has already given me full approval for a new Camaro! Wives are not all bad. :)
Note: A wife does double car costs - ie new engine requires new deck, etc.....

So far, my Monte has stayed in the garage and on the streets where it belongs. I think if you aren't nuts, with 10 project cars consuming all your expendable income, you better half should understand. I told my wife, "I don't smoke, drink, gamble, or go out with my friends. Why should I get rid of my one vice?"
PS - my wife HATES minivans too. She said "I will never drive a bus." She's got an '03 Liberty Limited to put the two kids in, and I have an '01 Cherokee Sport for a daily driver.

I actually like the van other than all of the gold fish cracker crumbs on the floor. I can park it any where and not worry. Throw car parts in the back and the damn thing gets nearly 30 mpg.

My current wife (she hates it when I say that :) ) is on her 3rd minivan. They are damned useful: they can hold as much cargo as a pickup, including 4x8 sheets of steel, plywood, drywall, and aluminum, 10' tube, and more. I know that first hand. My Durango can't do all that.
Their main drawback (other than lack of performance) is that they can't tow. I bought the Durango for that, but I wish I had a big diesel rig like Bill. (or David or Frank or TonyW). Oh well.
It sux having to sell one's toy to buy a minivan though. Neither of my wives asked me to do that!

1970 Cuda,
Is this why the wagon is on hold? What prompted this thread? Inquiring minds want to know.
1970cuda
11-29-2006, 06:14 PM
The wagon is going slow, but the wagon was my answer to my wife when she asked me to build a more "family car" type project. She said it had to be safe and able to stop. My answer for her was 6 piston baers all around, custom chassis and a two door wagon.
As for you question, it is winter in Arizona and I was doing house keeping. I even rolled the cuda out for the first time in years.

Well, around 16 years ago I had my 69 first, dog second and her third. Last year my dog got ran over. So she said that she is slowly moving up in line!:bananna2:
No minivan in the scope, just a nice suv and the 58 Nomad wagon for her!

Hey- If somebody just lets stuff like that happen, they deserve to be emasculated. Now- if forced by economics for a real reason (not because the spousal unit said-so), then ok.

I was married for 11 years and 11 days. Had 1 69 Camaro during marriage. I sold it due to the fact we needed the extra cash to build new home plus she just couldn't stand the car. My divorce was final on St.Patricks Day 2004. I dyed my hair red and wore a green suit to court. :seizure: :lmao: (Just kidding). Anyway, I purchased another 69 Rally Sport. This was my present from my divorce. The bad thing was I had to give her 200k after the sale of that new home we built.:crying:

I got rid of my '70 nova before I met my wife, replaced the nova w/ a '78 malibu original stick car, had all kinds of plans (it was in '92, wanted a tpi 383/T-5 combo) but really didn't want to start another deep project. sold it, got a '86 GTI (great car) then met my future wife and have been happy ever since. we actually had a mini van for a while ('00 mazda MPV) but my wife prefers something sportier, so she has a 5 speed saturn VUE. I don't miss my nova or the malibu, much prefer time w/ my wife, and I get my car fix helping my brother w/ his '70 camaro. as for kids, NOTHING compares to the joy I get from them. maybe I'll build a hot rod w/ my son when he's older (robots and rockets is his thing now).
cars come and go, but a good wife is a keeper.

If you look close at the pictures from the Pigeon Forge event drag racing, you will see my sons car seat in the back of my Camaro. Fits great. Couldn't get the better half to let me take him on a run though, something about cars sideways at half track. I guess I should have gone first!

We were mini van free until #3 was on the way. At the time I drove a 91 Caprice wagon and the wife a 98 Malibu. She wanted to trade the Malibu for a Venture. I didn't care, I wasn't going to be driving it! Last year we decided the Venture wasn't big enough (we're up to 4 little ones now) so we got a Suburban. The wagon was on its last leg, so the 'Burb is 'mine' and I got rid of the wagon to acquire my 51 Chevy truck project!:woot: So now with a 7.4l 'Burb and gas prices where they are, guess what I typically drive to work every day-the d@mn Venture!! :drive1:
Guess I need to hurry up and get the truck on the road so we can go through with the plan of selling the van.:git:

Before we got married I asked Kristy "you aren't going to be one of those women who makes me sell my motorcycles and fast cars, are you?"
She replied "No. Why, do some women do that?"
"Yes" I said, "I hear a lot of women do."
"Wow" she says while looking a little astonished, "every good woman knows that a man has to have his toys, if he doesn't have his toys" she continued "he'll find something else to play with, and that thing usually has breasts."
I married her. Made a good choice too, she doesn't get my car addiction, but she fully supports it. She even bought me a Harley!
Oh, she drive a Miata that I got for her. Looks damned cute in it too!
Shiny Side Up!

I'm not sure how I got soooo lucky...
I got married last year and my wife bought ME a wedding present. A 67 Camaro...She said she couldn't stand watching me drool over cars on websites anymore. Little did she know what that would lead to. Now I spend twice as much time on the web looking for the right parts, wheels, paint ideas, etc...
