Does the rear end of my car look low enough? I have DSE 3" drop springs in it and I am still not happy with how it sits. I can't go much lower or I will have issues with clearance when going over bumps. I have put about 75 miles on the car hoping they will settle some, but so far they have not. I am going to raise the coil overs on the front a little.

The back would look better about an inch lower, but if it negatively effects driving the car I wouldn't mess with it. If you raised the front a half inch it would most likely look more "right" to you.

The the gap between the tire and the body gets to big (compared to the front) it starts to look "jacked up".. if the front gap gets bigger than the rear then it gets the "cowboy rake" or "gasser" look. It's really hard to nail the stance.

In a perfect world the front and back would both just be at the wheel lip and the car would a subtle nose down rake.

Wow, that was an overly complex answer to your question.. BTW, you car is bad ass :)

Don't forget to send me pictures.. good ones :D

My camera is 5 megapixel, is that enough?

Thanks for the input guys. The most important thing is functionality. I will be abusing uh, exercising this thing at track days pretty regularly, so I need to be free of rubbing and other interference issues. I know I have to have the tailpipes redone as it is.

I think I will bust apart the front end tomorrow and jack the front up a little and see how it looks. GD DSE coil over setup, gotta bust the ball joints to adjust ride height.

I think your car looks bad a**. I can see what you're saying about the gap between the tire and fender in the back, but I think it's one of those things that most people wouldn't really notice or pay attention to it unless you brought it up. If I had've seen the car w/o hearing your thoughts first, I probably would've just said "wow that is an extremely sweet '67." I wouldn't compromise the performance/driveability of the car for something mostly cosmetic, especially if it's gonna see track time. BTW, what wheels tires are you running (size-wise I mean)?

Raise the front an inch and you'll be good to go!

BTW that thing is BADA$$!

Deep Blue,

They are 18x8 front with 245/45 ZR18 Toyo RA1 and 18x11 with 305/35 ZR18 Toyos on the rear. I went with the 305/35 because I knew I would need more sidewall height and I wanted to avoid potential clearance problems I might encounter if I jammed 345s in there.

My 3" DSE springs sat my car lower in the rear than that. Curious now as to why??

Looks fine. I wouldn't raise the front. Try looking at it with you or a similar amount of weight in the car. Remember that raising the front may negatively impact your handling. There is another sacrifice in the name of stance.

The only thing I can think of is that my car does not have the stock interior, just lightweight seats and carpet. Also, I think 69s look lower because the top of the fenderwell is flat. Killer car, by the way. Anything hit, rub or bottom out with that ride height?

I raised the front 1/2 inch today. I am going to leave it like this for driveability.

Damn that thing looks good. Hope my younger relative looks that good soon! Can we get a few more shots for inspiration? I for one could use some right about now.......

VanB,

I like it the way you did it with the 1/2" rise in the front! Now it looks just right to me!

Diggin' it. Is the artsy one for Rupp and PHR? I'm going charcoal or black centers for sure now.

How does the ignition work? Is that a distributor?

Van B

No distributor. I have everything just kind of bolted up so I could drive it yet this year. Plenty of time this winter for making things pretty. The ignition box on the left of the firewall actually runs off the crank sensor and works through a set of coils mounted behind the air cleaner. All tweaked via laptop.

Artsy pic was for Steve. Too dark outside yesterday to get decent pics.

here it is lowered 1 to 1.5 inches in back.

I love the look of your photoshop images, but the reality is that with my big 230 lb a$$ in the seat and a passenger the axle tubes would be on the bumpstops and the fender lips would be shredding the tires. :hammer: It is a tossup whether that would happen first, or the headers would be flattened from the first driveway entrance or speed bump.

That is one for the magazines if you put a little light to the grille and point a flash light on the wheel. Nice shot.

it cost $14 to get two 1" lowering blocks from speedway motors and put them in and see how you like it. i put 250lbs in the trunk of my car with DSE 2" lowering springs and it wasn't low enough but i had to get the 1" blocks to fit the rear brakes so the parking brake cable wouldn't hit the springs. it looked like the picture TonyL made up for you.

I thought I posted it here, but it must have been at Lateral G. I have a pair of blocks that are a little over 3/4" and it looked just like the photochop that Tony put up, but there was very little clearance to the bumpstops. I chose to go with function over ultimate looks.

Jeff,
Here are DSE 3" springs with about 7000 miles on them. Tires are 285/35-18. Given your preference towards function, I would jack the front slightly and then fine tune the rear with shims.

Your car looks hot by the way. 1/2" up in the front and 1/2" down in the rear should do the trick--performance and style.
