I am in the process of putting a C4 IRS in a 69 Camaro and would be interested in any comments about what I have come up with for the placement of the rear end and wheels. Right now the rear end is held in place by a series of C-clamps, jack stands, and brackets so before I fire up the welder I would really appreciate any information you could provide. I have placed a longer then normal bolt in the transverse spring to place some load on the wheels and hopefully hold them in their correct location. Here is what I have for measurements:
Measuring down from the top of the wheel well lip to the center of the wheel it is 13 inches. I am thinking this would be normal ride height.
Measuring horizontally the center of the wheel is forward in the wheel well about a half inch from center.
The half shafts slope down and back from the center about 2 degrees.
The pinion is pointing up 3 degrees. This places the nose of the center section almost against the floor boards right at the start of the tunnel.
My biggest question is with the four links. I am thinking they will be placed so at normal ride height the top bar will be almost flat (parallel with the ground), but will be slightly sloping up going forward.
Again any suggestions you can provide would be most appreciated before I do something I live to regret.
