My car is about 65% done as you all know many thousands later.
I think another ten grand would have it finished. Building a house and had to stop funding the car till further notice.
The plan now is to get it togeather this winter which really means wiring, fuel & brake lines . I plan on driving the car next year without paint. Currently the doors & rear quarters are new and sealed with etching primer. The car has been jammed in ultra marine blue. I havedone some of the jamming with some success.
The QUESTION. I have a fiberglass hood I don't plan on using with the finish paint. I am wondering how to strip , or just sand its painted finish and try to spray this un important hood myself. ???
If it comes out ok what would I risk by trying to spray the car myself . It will have flaws for sure. What would have to be done to get a good quality finish after I screw it up so to speak??? Would the etching primer have to be stripped? Back to metal??? Should I drive it in etching primer. I do want to drive the car for a summer to get the flaws out before it goes for the real paint job??? Sorry for the long questions? Any suggestions greatly appreachiated. I wont be offenfed if you say dont screw with it!
