ok, so we have this IRS on our 65 mustang vert, and the engine is putting out around 520 ft/lbs of torque, and ~480 hp...

it will not be raced, nor will slicks or drag radials ever be on the car, but, without an upper control arm....

what will happen if the halfshaft fails?

The wheel/tire will will probably move inward and hit the inner wheel housing. It could possibly go the other way and nail the inside of the outer fender (depending on how much the wheel tucks in).
