Saw this cruising on my way home from Daytona, thought my brothers at Pro Touring would appreciate it. Sad thing is, it was damn clean!
What a waste! Sad to see a clean Monte like that ruined with a lift kit.....

That's actually not a real bad looking example. Usually they have about $10k in Rimzzz YO! on a clapped out whooptie worth a small fraction of the price of the Rimzzz.

Donked.
It can be fixed.
Yeah, but the car isn't the problem: it's the owner's preferences that need fixing.

Did it have 22" disk brakes? If so, that is pro-touring to some folks :)

Nice looking ride, other than the rims.
Hey, I think it looks good. I think the overall Donk scene is dumb, but that was a good mix of big rims without being obnoxious on a very clean looking car.

Actually it did not look bad, it was cruising the interstate at 80MPH no problem, however I supect he is severly brake limited! Not nearly as stupid as the 77 impala fastback at my stereo guys shop with 28s!

Same religon, different church. I dont like the car but the guy is still a gearhead. Think of how easy it is to wax the sides and detail the undercarriage!

. Life has a learning curve and its up to the owner to do as he pleases. Dont let our love of the pro tour style or look make us as shallow as those who talk "rice", or old school or clones vs original. We and I in particular tell my boys not to judge others and appreciate the simple common thread we share. Making a ride "MINE" and loving it.. phil

Hear! Hear! I used to hate the hydraulic jumpy thingy majiggers. But several years ago my thoughts were changed by a young man at a cruise night. While walking around I heard the distinct sound of large electrical arcing. I walked over to see what was up and began talking with the fellow. Turns out he had spare relays to fix the problem he was having. After taking an interest in his vehicle and discussing all the work he had done mechanically, I could look past the fact it was not my thing. He was very proud, and I could appreciate the engineering put into his car. When it comes down to it, we are all car people. Now I will admit, I have much more tollerance for someone who actually knows how to work on there car and can at least carry an intelligent conversation about said vehicle.
As far as the big wheel thing, well anyone can bolt a wheel on a car, at least I hope they can change their own tire. Sigh.......

Good point! I am inclined to say that I think those wheels make that car look rediculous, but there are those who would say the same about the wheels on my ride!
Actually the car you show is not the best example, it has tasteful paint and modifications, (minus wheels), it's not even a true "donk," because it's not lifted up into the stratosphere. I think we have all seen those and everyone here pretty much agrees they look stupid, especially combined with the ludicrous paint jobs they put on these things. One donk I saw was covered in dollar bills with clearcoat covering them. The owner said he had to fix it once because some yahoo tried to pry one out once at a show...:screwy:
Different strokes for different folks, but I guess whatever turns your prop...

I saw a car Vette on a TV car show once with money shredded and stuffed into clear sections of the seats. The owner claimed each seat had 10K worth of 100's stuffed in it. Whats the point of that exactly?
And isn't destroying currency illegal?
^that might have just made me look like an idiot.

Yes it is illegal, not to mention just plain a waste, now these types just make me mad. Couldn't they have done something to help someone with that $10k? At the risk of venturing into off-limits territory here (beliefs and such), I say that's just morally wrong.

Speaking of cash, we were at a hip hop club this past weekend and two dudes were throwing cash into a fan blowing into the dance floor. Singles, fives, and tens, and I heard(but didn't see) a few twenties. They were trying to show each other up, and I'm guessing threw out a few hundred $ each. I thought it was some kind of promotion, because there it was a big game weekend FAMU-BCC(Caprices on 24s all OVER town), but I heard people talking it's the new thing to do at the club to show off how rich you are.

^ I just about threw up.
If you want an SUV, BUY AN SUV!
EDIT...
Maybe I am just being a jerk because I think the look is rediculous, but there must be some issue with headlight and bumper heights or something if the cops wanted to give folks a hard time. I know here in California they sure do pick on tons of imports that are too low etc.

Can't wait til this fad is over. It's just hard to find something positive to say about that style of car...sick of trying. I mean, gassers aren't my cup of tea either but at least there's some functionality to their set up. This Donk craze is just.....stupid.

I don't know if this is regional thing or not, but in the Dallas area I have seen pickups with 24" or 26" wheels on them. Ask me how I know what size they are? They put a decal behind the front wheel well on the fender that shows what size they are.
24" or 26" whichever the case may be.
I have seen this several times.:screwy:

Maybe we can start a new trend, two stickers...Wheel and brake diameter. Anybody got 18/13s?

I got a call last week from Daunte Culpeppers handler about working on his donk 76 Impala convertible. Some convertible top issues. I have not heard back but will get pics if we see it.

Not to worry lads. This will soon go the way of lowered mini-trucks.
I do get a kick out of the guys rolling around with big chrome 22" wheels on their car AND a "DUB" or "22" stick on chrome badge to announce the fact that they do, in fact, have 22" wheels on their car.
What is even more amusing however is the dimwits that roll around with the chrome "DUB" badge on a car that is running STOCK wheels.

I hate the trend , but in no way want to see it leave. It has easily made me over $10K this year on lifting cars. So simple to do and such a waste. It comes in a nice handling driving car, and leaves lifted and riding like a brick. But they are damn happy!! We got one in the shop now, 76 Impala vert, we are going to be lowering the control arm mounts and 4 linking the rear. Plans are for 30 inch wheels. Total cost to owner $7500~~, out my pocket bout $500
