I apologize for the sub-standard night-time pics, but I just had to mount my new wheels/tires and take some pics (well one rear wheel anyway). Even though the new wheels are a full 1.5" wider I still have a full 1/2"-3/4" clearance all around (inner, outer, shock, shock mount).

Before - 17x8 (4.75" bs) TTIIs with 255/45/17 BFG KDWS
9.5" section width - 8.5" tread width

After 17x9.5 (6" bs) Centerline Metiors with 275/40/17 Nitto NT555s
11" section width - 10" tread

And since I'm feeling "post whorish" tonight here are some more crappy pics.

Dan, are your wheel wells still original size? If so, it's nice to know we can stuff something that big into them. Do you think there would be enough room for more diameter? 275/50/17s maybe?

KenI don't know about the fronts yet, but the rears could stand a little more diameter. Maybe another 1/4"-3/8" would fit, at least on my Nova which has the fender lip rolled, other than that, the wheels wells are factory.

....... As expected, they look Great Dan. Any chance of getting some close-up wheelwell/rear shock clearance pics? As mentioned above it is cool to see that combo fit that well on our cars. I am surprised by the overall height vs. the 255/45's tho. I thought the 275/40's were typically taller, is it because of the 9.5 rim width causing the shorter height? BTW how much shorter are they than the 255/45's?

Looks real good! Nice to know you can go that wide with a Stock wheel well.
I have 17's want to try 18's or ?
do you think you'll have much rubber left after the 572 gets too em? haha!

255/45/17 overall diameter is 26.03"

275/40/17 overall diameter is 25.66"

HOWEVER Nitto's are a funky tire. They seem to have a fatter sidewall thus making it appear more like a 35 series thus more section width too compared to other 275/40 tires.

ttt, cuz I'm curious about the ?'s I asked above.....lolSorry, I glazed over your previous question. Just went out and measured total height.

255/45/17 = 25.75"
275/40/17 = 25.5"

I'll try to snap some pics and post.

Wheels look great, and the Nittos are a much better performing tire!
