Is this the way you bought it, or have you already done some work on it?
I notice the fire wall has had some work done behind the engine. Was this just a repair or was it altered to accomadate the LS1 / T56 combo?

I bought it this way, the previous owner started smoothing the firewall. I believe the work behind the engine was for more clearance only. There is still alot of work that needs fiishing, but I'm rather confident I can have it on the road this spring. Although not in any type of a show quality condition. Plans are to race it hard next summer and wring out any mechanical issues. Then blow her apart and start detailing.

Looks like you are off to a good start. That suspension cross member looks rather substantial. Any plans to lengthen the panhard rod? Looks like there is enough room to make it another six to eight inches longer.
Being someone else's abandoned project, I'm guessing you scored a good deal on it.

The cross member is large, and complicates exhaust options. I bought a 3" true x magnaflow system and I'm currently looking into options on routing. Going out the back looks to be impossible.

As far as the panhard bar, everything is powdercoated and I'll see how she handles on a road course first. Without having done much research on the matter, I would think as long as the suspension travel is not to severe and the bar is setup level to rideheight it would not make a large difference.

The man I bought it from did not abandon it, he wanted to help out his son with his first year of college. I found evidence he was still buying parts this past June. I just lucked out, I was calling about the engine / trans and one thing lead to another.

I can understand that. My eldest son is almost done with college :bananna2: . It hasn't been a huge financial burden for us, so I didn't need to sell off my Nova. It was however knocked down on the list of priorities. I hope to get back at it soon :woot: .
Getting the Cmaro up and running first is probably the best way to go about it. Nothing like instant gratification, relatively speaking. At least you will have a better idea as to what changes to make, if any are needed.

Well, not much done yet, but I have been a madman with searching for parts.

I have already taken the 9" out and will be getting rid of the Martz setup. I plan on installing the DSE Quadra-Link, fabbing my own fuel system, and will attempt a ram-air setup. Pics to follow when I get some actual forward progress.

Here are some pics of recent work I have accomplished.

Last night I made a mount for the vintage air heater. After some thought I decided this would be the best way to remove any stress from the firewall and stiffen it at the same time.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Here is a pic of the heater mounted and the close-out I made. This way I can run the heater hoses hidden through the passenger fender.

Here is a pic showing my version of the DSE select a speed, and custom mounting for my C5 master and clutch master.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

And here you can see the gas pedal I fabbed up. I used a 4th gen pedal and started cutting. It took some time to get the geometry close, but it will still need an adjustable stop so I don't plant the pedal to hard and stress the firewall. You can also see the clutch pedal position switch bracket, this is needed for the pcm to anticipate the position and for cruise control release.

Believe it or not I want to take this thing on the Power Tour, so the thrash has begun. If I make it the car will look rough, but then I think a road rat ( my version of a rat rod ) will be kind of different.

Some recent pics:

I borrowed an imperial flare tool from work for the brake lines, this tool is a dream to use. I used the line vise from the tool to file the ends of the lines square prior to the flare process.

Here is a pic of the driver side lines, this setup may be tough to bleed. But I wanted a clean look and also kept the lines as far from the headers as possible.

Here is a shot of the Magnaflow true x system after is mods to clear the quadra-link and mate up to the stainless works headers. What a pain in the A**.

And a pic of the drive-train coming out to paint the undercarriage.

The wiper motor you're using: is that from a late model car? If so what year etc?

Nice work!

Thanks-

Yes, its a spare I had from a 4th gen Camaro. I modded the switch assy to mount in my custom dash. The next thing I have to do is figure out how it parks so I can mount the arm to the motor in the correct position.

ok, cool. Is there any way you can make the staulk work on the first gen column?

I'm not sure I was looking into adapting it to my ididit and decided to mount it on the dash instead.
