WEll after seeing all the stupid lifted cars at SEMA and the huge new wheels. And being from the south the home of the "Donk" (lifted cars with big wheels for you old timers). I decided if I am going to keep up with the industry I should forget going the PT route with my 69SS. So I am gonna lift it and throw some big wheels on it. The pic below shows it with 22's but they aren't big enough. Doing som emeasuring now to see how much lift I need for them new 34's they had at SEMA:1st::1st::1st::1st::1st::1st:

Is that "Aftermath"? If so, I need to warn you about my policy prohibiting my renderings to show any questionable modification of classic cars. I'm actually a member of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Automobiles). DONK style cars happen fit into the category of "unethical" and just plain stupid.:hammer:

It was great to meet up with you, your dad and father-in-law in Vegas! I wish I could have stayed to talk to you guys more...busy, busy, busy.

keep in mind mine is just in the initial fab stages. I figure with front and rear 4 links, dropped tranny x-member, and some 36 inch long coilovers I will have plenty of clearance and lift to clear them tight ass Lexani 34's. I already talked to my banker cause Pirelli told me the tires were $8k each. No prob though, I got to "ride dirty"

yeah I despise it!! Although it does make me some good money. We get on average at least $1500 to jack up a crown vic or Caprice to fit 24's. Takes a couple of hours labor, and maybe $20 worth of metal. Beings from the south its all over down here! I would never do this to my car

Ok guys this is joke for those who missed it!! Wheels actually belong on a customers truck that we are building a full frame for, and air bag suspension. Truck has a stock floor body drop (channeling for the old school guys) and when all the air is out actually lays on the rocker panels!

The last one of those deathtraps I looked underhad the rear coil springs held to the spring seats with some wire. Think safety. The front upper control arms were elongated with some flat barstock. Think safety. The 11" rotors and drums were still on the car. Think safety. I refused to touch the car and pissed off the owner because I couldnt guarrantee that the wheel studs would be re-usable after the universal fit 24" wheels were taken off to do a brake job. I also wasn't able to do an alignment to the vehicle since our machine will only go up to 20" wheels. Oh, well no liability to sweat on that one.

My transmission guy has a sign in his shop. It plainly says no warranty if you have big wheels. These guys build powerglides for a number of the fastest 10.5 Outlaw cars in the country. They know what they are doing. So many of the people who own these cars have no idea how bad they are destroying their cars, or, as Tom mentioned, how unsafe they are.

LMAO Bill. You know you want to help kick off the Pro-Donky scene with me. Boilermaker is on board.

BTW, in the first pic, my buddy is throwing the Gangsta pose and those big mofo wheels were SPINNERS. LOL

I loved that first pic car!! Thing had a 2 foot long piece of 2" square tubing from the upper arm to the top of the spindle. And had two foot long 2" tubing welded in the lower control arm mounts, and the lower arm was rigged to the bottom of the tubing. No bracing of any kind. Hard turn and the front end will fold like a pretzel!!

When we do these things we do them right. We actually build coil spring spacers in the front, and in the rear use coils from the front of a fullsize chevy truck to get the lift. We then section and lengthen the upper control arms in the back so you retain the pinion angle and get the wheel centered in the wheel well!

You should just tell these idiots to buy a lifted truck instead. Nicer suspension stuff is already available for those :)

Thats great! I spoke to the guy that built that car 2 days ago. He was comparing notes on a blown big block motor & when I asked questions about the car it was going in, he got quiet and said "uh yeah, (long pause) did you go to Sema?" He then told me about the car he built for his customer. That red "donk" is it. LOL

Reading this post, I say several terms misused as I did before my investigation on the subject. I figured I would share my finding with you. The following is from various sources of urban dictionaries and slanguistics.

Subject : Cars with realy big wheels (24" or greater) also know as Donks, Boxes, and Bubbles

we will start with the earliest

Donk - Abreviation from the word donkey which is a ancesty/ family includes the antelope which happens to be the insigna of the chevy impala. Donks only refer to the impalas of 70-76 vintage only. after that they becam more square thus the term Box.

Box- typical G body from 77-88 or so

Bubble - Typical G body from approx 90 on when they have a curvier apperance.

Riding Dirty - Refers to a game played between friends where points are earned for succefully having sexual intercourse with extremely obese women without being caught by one's friends. If a participant is caught during this horrific act points are taken away and added to the finders point total. These women only qualify if their obesity is comperable to the fat women featured in Spencer's gag cards.

Referenced to driving a vehicle with any form of illegality;

1. Driving with an expired, suspended, or revoked license; or driving without a valid license or license plates.

2. Driving a vehicle with expired tags or failed inspection.

3. Driving a stolen vehicle.

4. Driving with unregistered guns in the vehicle.

5. Driving while intoxicated or under the influence.

6. Driving with illegal drugs/controlled substances in a vehicle.

Some of these terms in sentance format.
AWW sh** , look at the (donk, bubble, box 'pick one') riding high.

I caught my homeboy riding dirty last night. girl was so fat , when she jumped up in the air, she got stuck.
