Has anyone put a 17x8 wheel on a 66 mustang?

I say it will work for the rear.... but its gonna be real tight on the front.

I had a 64.5 K car with Vintage Wheel Works (V40's) 16 inchers on it and it was damn near a max fitment for the ride height I had. I still had to run a 7 on the front tho.

Well, it looks like it fits ok to me. This was my neighbor's car for a while. Till he sold it.

Oh, ok. Yes, this car was lowered. It did rub hard with the stock front fenders. But, it was raised up a little to help it clear. My neighbor wound up putting these small flare fiberglass front fenders on it to clear the wheels. The rears fit perfect though.

Oh, and it's a '65 fastback....

You are better off running 17x7 for the front and up to 17x9 for the rear. Most of the time 17x8 will not fit the front even when you play with the alignment. The reason is that the front sheetmetal most of the time is not perfectly and evenly aligned from side to side. :smoke:

Lots of people have done it. You'll need 4.75" of backspacing. A 235 fits great in the front and 255 fits nicely in the rear.
