Hello all, this is my first post here, hopefully it will wont get the dreaded "use search" feature. I spent a few hours last night searching for my topic, and didnt really get an answer that I liked, so I thought I would ask it directly.... So here goes.
I am rewiring a early 90s S10, with aftermarket fuel injection and custom dashpanel. I am using a AAW Highway 22 kit as the starting point.
My first question revolves around key additional components that are not covered in the AAW kit. Namely, the truck will have an electric water pump, electric vacuum pump, electric fuel pump, electric fans, and an auxillary fan for the trans/oil cooler. My initial thoughts were that I would use one of the iginition power sources on the AAW fuse panel, and run that to an insulated terminal block, then from there run 14 gauge to each 30amp relays for each component, with a main supply line of 8 gauge to each device. Similary, I would run seperate 8 gauge grounds to each of the devices from a common, central ground terminal.
I was considering having 4 terminal blocks.
1/ underhood ignition power from AAW block
2/ in cab ignition power from AAW block, relay power would come from here
3/ in cab ground with 4 gauge to batter, all grounds would home run to here
4/ in cab battery with 4 gauge to battery, alternator and devices would go here
So, where is the best source for insulated terminal blocks, wire, relays, and all of the other bits that I would need to make that work? Is MAD the place to look? I would prefer some sort of terminal block other than the plastic one, but if those are considered the best approach, so be it.
My second question is: Where can I find wiring schematics for 90s S10 steering columns and headlight switches? I would prefer to use the factory turn signal, headlight, hazard, and wiper switches, if at all possible. Any resources on this topic would be appreciated.
Thoughts on the ideas outlined above are more than welcome.
Thanks
cw
