My Outlook Express program has crashed! I cannot delete any messages or transfer messages to another folder.
I have tried to delete the whole program through the control panel however there is no listing for Outlook Express among the programs listed.
There are quite a number of Microsoft windows programs shown in the program list. Is the Outlook Express a part of one of those Micosoft programs listed? If so, which one. At this point I would like to completely delete Outlook Express from the computer. Help in accomplishing this goal is appreciated.
I am running Windows XP.
Thanks for the help.

outlook express usually installs are part of Internet Explorer.
Have you tried System Restore?

No, I have not tried system restore. How do I access that function?
WARNING: It is extremely difficult if not near impossible to remove IE from your system. I've tried twice. It aint' easy.
That being said, if I had the symptoms that you have, I would do two things.
#1 Under Properties for your harddrive (in My Computer), Then in the Tools tab, click on the "error checking Check now" button.
Check box for "automatically fix file system errors" and click on START.
Do that for the drive where Windows is installed. (I assume it will be C:)
Then reboot to allow it to do the checking/fixing.
#2. I'd run a Registry fixing program like "Registry mechanic". I've used it for years and it has never, ever caused a problem but BOY does it find and fix them!
Feel free to PM if you need assistance.

Start->Accesories->System Tools -> System Restore.
Pick a date in the past that your computer ran good on. viola.

I'm no expert, but I'd just download the newest edition of outlook express and install it. Outlook express will use or "Import" your old Email files, so you won't lose anything.
It's probably on the Microsoft download site.

I tried the re-install and I still have the same result. I have also run Registry Mechanic and McAffe scans. They say all is well.
I was able to go into Windows and have now found a way to delete Outlook Express. So far so good! We will see what happens.
Thanks for EVERYONE"S help and input!
I take it the XP 'error checking' thing above didn't work either?
I sure hope you don't lose the mail by removing the program. Not that I think you will, it just worries me!

I setup the webmail service from my service provider before I dumped Outlook Express. I will try to download Outlook at a later time from the Microsoft site or maybe start to use Gmail.
At his point my problems are solved!!!1
Thanks for the help.
