My first car was my 67 Camaro. It had a 250ci straight six, two speed powerglide. I drove it like that for about two years, then the fun started, It's come along way.

I had a 72 Nova, it was all original w/a 307 & th350, even had the original paint & spare - it was in very good shape. I bought it when I was 16 after mowing yards & working at six flags. I drove it like that for 6 years, then I put a 427 BBC & th400 in it in 1995. It ran 11.20's (which was fast back then lol) and was still my daily driver getting 7 mpg. I got a wild hair & decided I wanted to restore it so I took it all apart and completely lost interest in it. I sold it to a friend a couple of years ago and it's minitubbed & caged now. I miss it, I had that car for 17 years. :(

Firt hotrod? Would have to say my dad's jetboat. That single item is more responsible for my love of muscle than anything else. Summers were spent on the houseboat and from ~ age 12 or 13 I was allowed to take the boat out by myself and went around the lake looking to race :P
Few years later my brother and I pulled the stock 455 olds rebuilt it with a few hotrod goodies.
1st car was a 64 Chevy C-10. Learned a lot with that truck. Lowered it, ran a 350 that I ran double hump heads, then aluminum, then fuel injected it, etc. Went through 6 transmissions and 2 rear ends.
Today I have the 68 Camaro and my brother and I still have that jet boat :)

My first car/hot rod was a 68 Bug back in 1984.
My first American Hot Rod was a 73 Camaro back in 1988. When the smog was due I smogged it with a 350 and 2bbl carb I drove it home and put the BBC 402 (from my brothers wrecked 71 SS/RS Camaro) in it and drove it that night. On a little rant...It was the only time my high school friends helped me work on my car, even though I spent many late night thrashes working on their cars.
That Big Block is the same block that's in my 68. So that's almost like still having my first hot rod.

'77 Camaro LT purchased at 16 years old in 1985. It looked a lot nicer than it was (1st saw it in primer but final paint was part of the deal) and I paid $3500 for it. It ended up being full of bondo, but it did last me through college (1991). Of course it took another paint job (corvette yellow with black SS stripes) and more bondo to make it last that long. I put it out of its' misery in 1992.
Fastforward 21 years and I recently bought a '69 Firebird in primer...looked really good until I got it home (see link to my website for the details). Notice a trend? Some people never learn. :spank2:

First car in August 1975: a 1964 VW bug from dad for free.
Second car in October 1975: A clean 1968 Firebird 400 with 4-speed manual trans for $1100. For the same price I had my choice of the green Firebird, a yellow 67 Camaro RS 327/4-speed or a red 69 Mach I 351/4-speed. I picked the Firebird cause it had the biggest engine and the cool tach on the hood. The Mach was pretty cool too but had some issues with the windows not working. Should have bought all three.:crying:

My first car was a bright yellow '82 camaro, I traded that even for my first hot rod, it was a '23 T-bucket, purple with flames, and a chrome 350. Pretty cool car for an 18 year old. This was back around '93/'94 or so. As it was my only transportation and I was going away to college that year, I had to trade it in on something more practical, which at the time was a 300ZX. I wish I still had pics of the T-bucket, I had a bunch of them but lost them in a move. I'm still hoping they turn up eventually, but they've been missing for several years and no luck so far. I did some pretty stupid things in that car, I'm lucky I lived through the experience.

1966 Chevelle convertible, LS-6 454 crate motor, M-20 4-speed, and 3.31:1 gears. We (my dad and I) built it from the frame up, and I spent the next several years trouncing his '61 'Vette at the local dragstrip. It ran 12.03s fairly often, and I even got a few 12.01s out of it on a really good day.
I guess it was "pro-touring" back then as I had the largest swaybars GM made for those cars, 60 series tires, and discs on the front. Wish I had a few pics... never took a good pic of the car when it was done.

My 1st car, hot rod or otherwise, was a 1960 VW Bug Ragtop (giant cloth sunroof). My dad bought it for me when I was 14, and we spent 2.5 years getting it running. It was a Fred-Flinstone car: rusted floors and no cloth on the ragtop. Car was painted bright white, slammed, loud stereo, and a 1600d.p motor with single Weber 40. I still have the car, and it will get a rebuild one of these days...
I need to get all my old pics scanned; that car was built before digital cameras!

My first car was a 69 Charger my brother pulled out of a field. Hestored it about 8 months in my dads salvage yard and was going to crush it when my dad was crushing cars. It was a 383 car with no intake or exhaust. I got it running and drove it even before I got my license. I then put a 440 six pack manual shifted 727 410 gears [it ran 12.20 1/4 mile] into it my senior year in high school. street raced it for a year and then sold it to by a 71 Challenger which I still have 21 years later. Now in a pro touring build up.

The 69 was my first car that I actually got to drive legally! I had a sweet 74 Camaro when I was 15 for a few months until I realized it was going to be too much to fix up, I then found the 69 in a local paper for $3500 and got it. I will try to dig up a pic of the 74 somewhere and post it. It was (supposidly) a magazine car in the 70's. It had bright yellow paint with red, white and blue stripes, L-88 hood grafted onto it, big fender flares, big whale tail spoiler, louvered rear window, slapper bars (with lights no less!), red crushed velvet interior and some outlaw wheels! SWEET!!
Here is one of th 69 when I bought it.

A silver gray 1966 Beaumont convertable. It was originally a six cyl. with Powerglide but had a 283 in it when i bought it in '72. I swapped in ( in no particular order ) a 327, 400 SBC, Muncie 4 speed, TH 350, a 12 bolt with 373s, and countless tape eating tape decks ( none of which were 8 tracks ). Somewhere along the line it also received a couple gallons of mud ( bondo ) and a red paint job. I never figured out what was so cool about rag tops. It was a PITA and I never really cared for it, although I certainly learned a lot with it. It was eventually discarded after I bought my '75 Camaro LT Rally Sport. Now that car I wish I still had :crying: .

First car was a 79 Plymouth TrailDuster 4x4, think Blazer/Bronco, only Plymouths version. I LOVED that truck!!! Well, the old man for some odd reson thought I hated it, traded it in on a new truck for himself, I was so mad! So he bought me a 74 Bug shell. It was my first and only father/son project. We ripped everything out of it to save weight, put 2 nice seats, nice steering wheel, short shifter and spent the rest on the motor. Super light and was impressively fast! Dad was good fiends with a local VW shop owner, pretty big name in the VW world. The first American hot rod project was my version of a sleeper 65 Falcon. If you saw the body, you would instantly be disgusted, laugh, want to take a shower or all three. Thats how ugly and nasty it was on the outside. It was all motor, with a bullet proof drivetrain. It was a terror on the street to say the least. Embarrassed a lot of peple in that car. Then a hot rodded, faster than was safe, 79 Bronco 4x4 on 35's. It had a very worked over 400M, worked C6, and 4:56 with Detroit locker. The truck would flat go. It was literally stupid fast, but i was young and crazy. Also embarrased quite a few unassuming folks in that truck. I held on to it for a long time and would trail ride, smoke the tires, just play around with it. The neighbors HATED it because it was just nasty loud. Eventually got to the point where the body rotted off of it and I was looking for a late 60's pick up to transfer the drivetrain to. never found one in good enough shape, so it sat with me driving it around the block once a week to keeps things in order. Got tired of the noise complaints and gave it away for a mere $1800. I had that in the tranny and diffs!!!! Regret that one big time, but i regret selling them all. Then 89 Mustang vert, 98 Mustang, then I racked up way too many speeding tickets and took a break from fast cars and went to luxury SUV's to slow me down a bit. Then got back in classics, old Mustangs and my current project thats collecting dust, that has all the parts to finish, but dont have the time, the 64 Comet.

My first was a 60 Vette that was bought from David Pozzi's cousin Richard (the name he goes by is actually 4 letters, starts w/ "D" and ends with "ick" but the censor wouldn't allow it) many, many years ago. It had a 327 w/ Duntov 30-30 cam from a 64 or 65 Vette- can't remember which anymore. With Cragar SS wheels on the back and chromies on the front it cost me $925. I had it for less than a year but I loved it. I lost it when it got totalled by a guy who ran a stopsign at 60+ MPH. I actually still have the hood, trunk lid, & various small parts.

My first was a 67 Camaro with a 350 / 350, open 10 bolt. She had fiberglass fender flares, cragers, and was a chalky white with black z28 stripes. The only way I could lay rubber was to do a brake torque or a reverse drop. Well to many reverse drops lead to a blown diff. When I pulled the cover the idler gears splashed into the drain pan. One junk yard 10 installed backed out of the drive way and low and behold no forward gears, back into the garage for a junkyard trans. Ouch!! at 16 that was an expensive lesson.

69 Camaro that started as a base 307ci frost green on frost green, ended up as a 327ci red on black with black Z28 stripes.
I bought it when I turned 15, and my Dad and I restored it for a year and it was done by the time I turned 16. Drove it for 3 years, sold it to pay for college.
