:dunno:
i own a 67 Camaro, LS1 (full bolton), T56, 2" drop spindles, drop springs front, GW 2" drop rear, 245/35/18 front, 285/40/18 rear (i know, they're small, but they were free).. big sway bar, urethane everywhere, and my car does NOT stop well at all. I've got LS1 rear discs, and 11" front single piston brakes stock '69 style. the bias is mostly toward the front, and when i step on the brakes, it does not dive at all, just stays level, decelerates very slowly, and if i give it hard pressure, they lock up. my stock 97 S-10 stops WAAAY better, and it has the same size/style brakes. The car barely rolls at all in turns, too. anyone know what I can do to fix it?

So your rear brakes are newer and maybe even larger than your front brakes? Do you have a adjustable proportioning valve to the rear brakes? Do the backs lock up first or the front? When you say you LS1 rear discs then you have the LS1 calipers also.. right? If so they are way more efficient then the '69 calipers up front.
I would suggest doing an LS1 or C5 front brake swap to better balance your system. Make sure you use an adjustable proportioning valve and size the master cylinder bore correctly. You sould be able to do this upgrade for a reasonable amount of $$$.
And your 97 S-10 most likely has twin piston front disc brakes, so they are much better than the old-school single piston brakes from 1969.
Stock Master Cylinder? Do you know the bore size?

oh, i bought a ZO6 setup front brakes, i just havent installed them yet. i have a wilwood adjustable proportioning valve, stock LS1 master cylinder, 3rd gen booster. the C5 calipers are the same size as the LS1 ( + or - a few mm), so i dont think it'll be a problem.. S-10 has same size rotors, same style pistons. i have barely any (if any) pressure going to the rear brakes right now. front locks up first.

how are your hydrolique pressure ? do you have change the master ?
a master whith a big piston will give less pression to compare a master whith small piston

I think your main problem is that your front brakes are not matched correctly to the LS1 parts on the car. Get those new front brakes installed and you will see a big difference.
My body shop is Best or Show Coachworks in San Marcos, CA. Best shop I have EVER dealt with. They are honest and proud of thier work. Call and ask for Dickk (ie, Richard) - Call soon, they are currently booked till Feb or so. Oh, tell him I sent you :)

thanks, steve. I just need to buy the speedtech brackets, and magnaflux my spindles at work, to get them on. :twothumbs I was going to do my own brackets, but the fact that it needs to be 5/8 thick, and I'd have to bring out solidworks and draw it up, then go to my friend with the CNC shop who is always busy, make them out of 7075 and hope they're strong enough, THEN have them anodized, doesnt seem like it's worth paying more than the 120 bucks to people who've already done the work and research.
I'll give the bodyshop a call.
I think its partly that I dont have an alignment, either. the car is "nervous" feeling on the road, really twitchy, so i'll get that done, too.
thanks everyone for replies, I'll be sure to post photos and results when i'm finished.

Minor note: You may want to rethink the pads you got on there. Maybe they're glazed?

I was thinking the same thing, but theyr'e brand new, and the problem is the wheels locking up, not the stopping power of the brakes. If i put good pressure to them, they'd stop ok, but I can't.

The master cyl you are using is probably too small for those front calipers, they require a 1 1/8" bore.
Are you using a vaccum booster?
