Hey guys,

I have posted before about converting to halogen headlamps with an H4 style removable bulb. I had found some sold by summit, made by hella, for around $35 a piece without bulb. They are the vision plus plastic ones I believe.

I just noticed that classic industries sells a coversion housing with bulb for $29 or with Xenon bulb for $35. Assuming Xenon is some crappy blue tinted bulb? Anyhow anyone ever use these before? They were partnumber 1179 or 1149 or add x to get Xenon.

The main issue isn't price, rather the bulb that will give the best light pattern. I called classic industry and the guy there couldn't tell me anything about who manufactures the assemblies.

Thanks.

Xenon and Halogen are similar technologies.
The tint in the lens.bulb glass is what gives you blue lights not the lighting source.Halogen gas and Xenon are similar in "flare" characterisitics and hence are used to make a "whiter" light bulb.
all bulbs have to be marked weather they are blue or not as those (while siad to be legal)are not leagl if you get car inspected (ie not for sale or use on highway vehicles) but most cops and inspectors will let them slide, me i prefer to bust the head lights but dont as I dont want to get arrested.
the big trick in using something with H4 bulbs is make sure they are DOT approvedfor light replacement and get lights realigned.

Ok well after spending way to much time reading about headlights I found the following usefull links:

http://www.rallylights.com/useful_info/Vision_Plus.htm
http://www.jpurnell.com/rr/lighting.htm
http://www.dimebank.com/Light-up.html

Also stumbled on these guys:

http://www.deltalights.com/

Based on the fact that they show classic industries as a vendor and the fact that their partnumbers match those used in the CI 06 catalog I'm guess that is the brand CI uses :p Also noticed that the pictues on their site is the same as what is in CI's catalog.
