Let's try something a little different. What if a company let you, the enthusiast, choose the final design for a product? We had some downtime at the CNC shop. So we developed a few different looks for our new fender struts. You get to pick which style we make. Vote for your favorite design. Price for the fender struts is $145/pr with hardware.

I voted number 1, but I was vacillating between 1 and 2. After studying the pics again, I think I would vote number 2. The light color of the car as a background makes it a bit difficult to distinguish some of the smaller design differences.

Thanks! That looks Bitchin' up close. I'm torn between 1 and 2, but I'd be happy with either of the three on my car. $145 is a great price, too.

I like #1. Wonder why Gm didn't put fender strut bars on '68-'74 Novas?

That wouldn't happen to be Jeff Trush's old car, would it?
Interesting....Who owns it now?
Oh, and by the way...number 1. Thanks.

1 or 2 for me as well, I picked 2 before I saw the close up of 1. Do you have a close up of #2?

Will any other designs be available, or is this it?

I voted #2. Someday when I have spare cash I'll buy a pair and adapt them to the Monte!

Yup. That's Jeff's old car now owned by Jimmy Mulvey. It now has a full DSE front clip upgrade and a sweet 383. Soon to get a Quadra-Link. Lucky me, I get to stare at it every day and drive it every once and a while (just to help keep the juices flowing).
It's also an official Twist R&D car. So it will be first to receive all of the cool 69 Camaro parts that we are working on.
Rocket,
We messed around with a few other designs. If you have a special fender strut in mind, we can build 'em for you. Shouldn't be too difficult now that the basic program is set up. Figure on no more than $250/pr. We also have a radical design in mind that is a complete departure from the basic "long and narrow" strut profile, but they would run around $500/pr or more--World's most expensive fender struts!! Aluminum has gone up 40%.

I was looking at 1 and 2, but voted 2. I liked the simpler look, it fit that car better. Now, something with a ton of billet and bling underhood would be more suited for #1.

I would like #2, but without the "steps" in the front. Maybe just a smooth transition there to keep it simple.

I don't care for the steps either, looks to scifi. smooth transition looks more buisness like.

Two, no steps please. Just a smooth bevel.

I agree now that I look at them...the step needs to be a smooth bevel like mentioned above.....

I like #1. Billet pieces sometimes come out looking "half finished" but that one is nicely detailed, looking as if it's made by someone who's thought out every little thing.

I will second the removal of the steps. As I said before, I think a more simple and smooth look is better.

As for the steps, we will work on an entirely different design that uses chamferred "lightening holes" instead of slots and no steps. That should satisfy the streetfighter crowd.

I voted for #2.. i like the "airiness" of it.. ie. the bigger holes.. :)
Nice work Steevo!

#1 without the steps :slap: . I like the beveled ends on the slots. A smoother transition on the end would better match the slots ( I think ).

I like the design of #1 & #2, but instead of the brace being attached on top of the radiator support I want to secure it to the vertical portion of the support and fill in the mounting hole on top. This would hide the bolt securing the brace to the support and provide a cleaner look.

no steps, make it smooth. I voted for No. 1 but now I like No.2 after seeing the close up of No.1

No. 2 and, I agree, no steps. I'd like to see it a little "chunkier" looking. Even thouhg it may not yield any performance difference it would look all business!

We can do that, but it's a totally different design that starts out with a much bigger slug. It's a one off part so it will be pricey. If you are interested, visit this webpage and give us a call.

I voted #2 but I like #4 too. (the one on the flyer that I picked up at SEMA in the booth) Instead of the larger indentation on the sides they had 4 or 5 smaller grooves machined in. I would also like it without the steps.

Are the struts the same length for 2nd Gens? I would definitely be interested in a set if so. I voted #2 as well, but I agree that it would look better without the steps close to the mounting location on the rad support.

Yup. We sure do. There are 10 sets of the second design already made and ready for immediate shipment. And the design has a name: I-Beam.

Sorry, they are not the same length. We'll get to work on the 2nd gen struts this week and ship in two weeks.

I chose 2 for its simplicity. It looks easiest to clean, which is important for a guy like me that drives his car everyday...even in the rain.
Did I mention that I'm disgusted? How dare you come out with a product that's close to an idea I've been kicking around for 2 years. Shame on you...I mean shame on me.

:lmao: Yeah, the struts clean up pretty easily. Just hit them with some red scotchbrite and they look good as new. Tool storage, huh? Gosh, I hadn't thought of that. Maybe we should make a rack that snaps into the strut and holds tools, a beer and some beef jerky?

Keep me posted. I am sure I can convince someone to buy these for me as an Xmas present. If not, I guess I will be giving myself one... PM's are fine, if not, here is my email.

I don't know if it is just me but personally I don't really like any of them. But that could just be because I don't really like the billet/polished look of things. The exact reason why I hate Lokar!!! Anyways I thought the idea of interactive design was clever.

I'd love to see them hard anodized black or titanium color...but that would increase the per unit cost to produce.
I had my DSE battery mount hard anodized black and it looks great!
