After SEMA we went to MSD's headquarters in El Paso TX to pick up my latest project a 1981 Turbo 4.9 Pontiac Trans Am.
Having only room for one car in the trailer and the Trans Am not being driveable as expected. I unloaded the Ultima and drove it 1600 miles back to Crystal Lake IL, getting 24 mpg in the process. Gotta love LSx and turbos.

What, and you did not break anything.:rotfl:
You must have been on your best behavior? I am sure it was a real hard choice to drive the Ultima over the truck and trailer.
The car looked good at the show btw, but different with all the stickers on it as opposed to Power Tour trim. I would have loved to hung around at the show and watched you leave.:pics2:

Knowing Jeff there were at least: one local law enforcement agency involved in the trip, a gaggle of scantily clad women, numerous instances of exceeding the national speed limit by 200%. :seizure:
Beats my job by a mile!!

Well maybe Jeff rounded up from 23.x MPG, hence the confusion. :rotfl:

My bet is that he actually got 26 MPG but didn't want to rub our noses in it. :)

Jeff I`ll bet it gets over 30mpg if you can keep the speed under 150mph! I love that car. Mark SC&C

that kid is retarded. i drive a ls1 powered camaro with a huge cam in it and can still get upper 20's and the occasional 30-31mpg on the highway. i love the lsx motors and even more when there is a t56 behind it.
ps. i dont make anywhere near 1000hp, i have only a meak 420rwhp

maybe he was drafting behind a semi or maybe under one? we all know that jeff can't stay out of the throttle so there has to be a catch.

Thats cool! Very cool.
From the sounds of it, you like driving at high speeds- Are you running anything for laser jamming / detection / scanning.
Just curious.....

I agree...good mileage on the highway from an LSx isn't hard at all if it's tuned well...especially if it makes its power with boost. I'm hoping my twin turbo LSx project can do something similar when it's all finished up.

One other cool thing about the new camaro coming out is a new supply of used ls2's!!!! Can't wait.
