I have had it 2.5 hours.. lol

Ok.. the review.

It's as nice as it looked on ebay.. there is absolutly ZERO orange peel in the paint. It certainly is not a el cheapo paint job, not a show car job but certainly nice. All the body panels are straight and so far zero signs of rust. The paint is definetly a two stage deal and it's a pearl.

The grill is in PERFECT shape, not even a crack. I was told by some Torino guys that it's worth around $1200 since it's the one used in cobra jet Torinos and it's not reproduced :D

The vinyl top is in top shape and no sign of any rust. The glass has a few scratches but then again it's a 36 year old car. Tires are brand new, wheels are pretty nice.

The interior is immaculant with perfect seats, new carpet, good headliner and nearly perfect door panels. Some wear on the kick panels and the dash could use a paint job (rubbing off, gives it character). Radio works but display is busted. Headrests loose in seat, must be an intermal problem but who cares. Temp guage inop but speedo and gas guage works. Needs weather striping bad, the stuff in there is hard and cracked.

Looks like the guy tuned it up before shipping since he sent along the old plugs and points in a bag (I keep looking for an OBDII plug). Car runs great and starts easy. Some smoke on start up, must have semi-tired rings. Then again it doesn't have to last all that long.

The four wheel disc brakes work, with effort.. lol.. steering is 1970s sloppy and the very nice wood GRANT wheel is on crooked.
The car is LONG.. almost 17 feet. I didn't have a lot of extra space in my garage length-wise.

Overall it's MUCH nicer than I expected. Sure some little things need attention, for $8000 I think I got a good deal.

BTW, a big thumbs-up to Intercity lines. They couldn't have been any more professional or friendly. They called me often and the car was covered and wrapped up just like it was a 500,000 Ferrari.

I will post some more pics tomorrow.. Oh, and when it came off the truck I drove it straight to the John Force cruise night :)

It's an even nicer Fairlane ;)

Put around 50 miles on her today.. definetly need suspension work, but not bad. Even stopped by a local car cruise in the neighborhood. People seemed to dig the car. Can't wait to baseline test the car.. lol

Here's some pics as promised..

It's considered a mid-size.. my camera angle made it look a bit longer.. but it is a "robust" vehicle.. lol

I think ya got a sweeet deal for $8K !!!
I like that bodystyle! Now just how heavy is the car actually??? As people always quote whats on the title and from my experience cars always weigh more than listed.

Awesome deal.
Quit rubbing it in:squint:
Are you going to sell the grill to fund some go fast parts?
I second "Restorods thoughts on the valve stem seals being the possible cause of the start up smoking. I had a 70 Torino with a 302c.i. in high school. Same problem. New valve stem seals problem fixed. Guess it really doesn't matter as that engine is going bye-bye.

I'm gonna weigh it this week.. anyone want to guess? minus driver weight and the two axle weights..

My guess is 3890.. :)

I need to come up with a plan.. A shockwave system is certainly under discussion. After seeing thier cars perform I'm a believer.. lol

Steve, I don't think you could have bought anything else that nice for that kind of money. You can barely buy junk for 8k anymore. I know these things are considered mid size buy, they are BIG. My buddy has a 70 Torino and 2 70 Cyclone Spoilers and they always look BIG next to my cars. I remember thinking I could almost part my 72 Bronco in the trunk of the Torino.

Sorry to play the price is right game but I'm guessing 3900+. It's BIG!

It's big but they were built with thinner sheet metal than cars just a few years sooner. When I was growing up we had a '70 Galaxie and '71 Torino at the same time and the difference was noticeable. I'm going to say 3675#.
