So I started looking for many different types of FI and started looking at hand built stuff and then I got asked to tune a car for E85.
Nowwhile its not available locally yet it will be soon from what I heard. But as we dont always drive cars that would be using it ,ie weekend warriors a carb will suffice. BUT if we want to ride and drive and RACE our cars then it needs to be equally tollerant to straight gas too.
So I started looking into a carb/EFI combo, use the carb as a throttlebody and fuel cut offs.
Well that is a crap shoot at best so I started looking into flex-fuel technology. Now while a 3.0 Ford Range or a Taurus FFV isnt thrill inspiring the complexity of adapting stock stuff is getting crazy.
So I have located a reasonably accessable fule sensor and started the fuel maps but so far its a slow road as I work full time and do this.
Well in comes a friend who wants to help so we start spit balling on a bolt on setup that anyone can buy/install AND get flex fuel capabilities too.
Does anyone see the possibilites? Come guys ,not a completely simple change on FI cars but it does provide some neat options.
E85 has 105 octain and the systems we are building will be able to run pure alcohol and pure gas and anywhere in between.
I have a throttle body setup waiting on a new injectors and the fun part is sourcing fuel content sensors.
While working on that I am trying to build my own that is much simpler to produce.
These systems will be fully functional and no "race" or "street" versions as the maps for driveing are at part throttle/steady speeds so tuning them will get them close and let the computer and a wideband O2 set the stage and again let the computer and a Wideband O2 keep your perfromance engine tuned while in the throttle.
Stay tuned as AFTERMARKET PERFORMANCE is starting a revolution in dropon FI setups and retrofits.
