What the biggest 15-inch wheel you can run on a '70 Dodge Challenger without rubbing issues?

What tires would work with this?

What about backspacing?

I'm thinking a 15x8 front and 15x10 out back, but I'm not sure.

Any help would be appreciated.. thanks!

You will have to relocate the springs to get 15x10" wheels including sidewalls, 5" BS and maybe a little trimming of the inner lip. 17x8 with 4.5 BS is what I am using on the front of my e-body with no issues, so 15 should work.

For a stock Challenger 15x8 wheels with a 4.5" backspace would be the biggest without any mods. The largest tire size is a 275/60/15 for the rear and a 245/60/15 for the front.

On my challenger I have the following:
17x8 4.75"BS with 245/45/17
17x9.5 5.25" BS with 285/40/17
I have a dana 60 out of a b-body with 1" offset hangers.

I running 17 x 8 (4.5" backspace) with 245/45/17 on the front and 17 x 9 (5" backspace) with 275/40/17 rear. Stock leaf springs with an 8.75 rear. I actually think it's possible get a 10" rear under with custom backspacing and real careful measurements but only using a 17 or 18. The balloon side walls kill it for a 15 incher.

The above answer regarding the 15" stuff is what I used to run with no problems.

I've got 15x8 with 4.75 rear spacing and a 295/50 tire. Clearence to the rear spring segment is about .25 inch. Clearence to the fender lip is about 1.125 without rolling the edge of the opening. Roll the edge and I could get another .5 or so room. Could you put a 15x10 under there? Hmm, Maybe. With the 8" rim I have, the tire sidewall has a pretty decent size side bulge to it. The 10" rim would pull that out some, and solong as it didn't stretcht eh tread much, it might fit. I sincerely doubt a 15x10 with 4.5 rear space would fit at all.

The cuda and challenger are just about the same.I got 18X9.5's on the back of my cuda with a minor spring mount modification

Hey 5.7 hemicuda, in the pics on your E-bay auction it shows your leaf springs bolt on the stock front spring mounts. I have a 4-bar set-up that bolts onto the same location. The bars are approx. inch and 3/4 diameter, the stock Mopar leafs are about 3 inches wide. My question is: What did you do to the mount location? I want to fit a 10 possibly a 10.5. The bars give me some extra room over the stock leaf set-up. If you did something to the lef mount, I could do the same and get even more room. I would appreciate any knowledge you could pass on so I could squeeze as much tire back there as possible. I have 17x9 back there now, right now I am out of the U.S. and just thinking of what I could do since I can't get under it and measure. Also, what's your backspace on the 18x9.5's?

I actually fabbed new spring mounts in the front moving the spring in about an inch{using the factory holes in the body}and ran 1/2 inch shackle spacers in the rear.I am running 5.5 back spacing, but I have narrowed the rear an 1.5 inches because I like the deep look on the wheels. If you ran 6.25 backspacing you could use the factory rear.I have really run the car thru its paces and there is no rubbing at all.
