getting pretty close to being done, it's in paint right now

:)

sorry, pics are kinda out of order and random

there's 4 pages of pics, so instead of posting 12 at a time, here's the link to the photobucket album

Great looking project. I spent too much time looking at all your cool pic's!

Keep the updates coming!!!

I'm assuming that you used automotive paint on your engine block, how is that going to hold up to the heat? might want to do that to mine. also, what type of wood is that in the trunk and it's thickness?

very nice work BTW

yeah, regular paint, we'll see how it holds up, but if it gets hot enough to ruin the paint, i'd be more worried about the engine

i think that's 3/8 wood in the trunk, it will be covered in vinyl though

From what I've been told the standard automotive paints hold up well. My brother paints for a living and told me that the engine heat is not a problem, the exhaust gets hotter than the engine. Most automotive paints will hold up to 300 - 600 deg temps. The block temps are around 160 - 210 deg.

yeah

if your engine block is over 600 degrees, you'll have a lot more than just paint to worry about

well, I know headers get very hot, is the paint around the headers going to be damaged?

hopefully not, we're using coated shorties, plus, the heads won't be painted, so maybe we'll be aight

Car looks awesome, can't wait to see the finished product! Also, don't worry about the auto paint on the engine, either single stage or base/clear, I continue to use both, no issues. I actually like a single stage better, but the base/clear really comes out well after smoothing the engine/heads. Anyway, very cool car!

Looking forwards to hearing how much power it makes. I got a W block in the garage that I am considering building into a 427W for my Coupe. So whose stroker kit did you use and what are the rest of the specs on the motor?

You may have already thought about this but it appears in the pictures that your amp is mounted behind plexi? There could be possible heat issues unless you have a way to turn air over inside of there. We have this problem on a boat of ours that has about 5 amps on it, after about 2 hours of constant playing they like to get a little warm to say the least. -Phillip

coast high performance 427 stroker kit, all forged
out of the box vic jr. heads
1.7 roller rocker
hydraulic flat tappet cam, ~550 lift ~230/240 duration
air gap rpm intake
edelbrock 850 carb

afr was right on the money out of the box

we could have made a lot more power with a bigger cam, different intake, and some tuning, but we had a good safe tune, excellent torque down low, and we gotta worry about halfshafts :)

so we're pretty happy with it, and it'll loosen up a bit after a few thousand miles

Dam I want one! Those are some pretty big numbers for a relatively small cam. Whats the compression ratio? And what year engine block did you use?

I wonder how much power it would make with a .6ish [email protected] solid roller cam and a Vic Jr. intake? I also wonder what it would do to that table flat torque curve?

comp ratio is ~10.5:1

i think that's an 83 block, we have a few laying around, it's hard to keep straigh

lol

yeah, i'm loving that torque curve

we don't have any data for under 3100, but from the rest of the data, off idle torque will be ridiculous

:)
