project update. I have the engine in place and the front suspension all welded up now. I thought I would share. 421 sbc little m block with brodix 18 degree heads. approx 650 hp will be run on E85.
I will use a 6 speed tranny instead of the 700r4 that is in place. it was just used to make the motor mounts. Thanks for Looking

I am curious why you have it compatible with E85?? No advantages to this, unless you see in the future that you can only get E85 at the pump in Indiana. I am just wondering, I love the project, very cool, can't wait to see it finished.

12.5-1 compression ratio........ I plan on driving this on the street, making a run of 200 at bonniville, and some autocrossing.......will have a cage when done.I'm using all Morrison suspension components, willwood brakes and building the chassis myself. Thanks again for looking

should be a cool car car . it,s nice to see a different body style. one question though . did you leave enough room for the exhaustand headers . or do you still have to put holes thru the chassis for IT?
the advantage to e-85 is its close to race gas in octane, and less than premium in price. seems like a win win to me.

I will prob have to build the headers myself and I'm sure that won't be fun...lol....yes I still have to put cutouts in the angled crossmember...it is just tacked in place. The rest of the exhaust will be nascar boom tube style coming out in front of the back tires.
Thanks

Just curious what you are basing this on? Im anxious to see the results....! killer deal, E85 is gonna rock when it makes its rounds....!!!

Actually, E85 will definitely have its problems. It has less energy per gallon than strait gasoline, so economy will suffer. It is also hydroscopic, so moisture will be a problem, especially on older cars where the fuel tank is vented directly to the atmosphere. Worse, when it absorbs water the alcohol tends to separate from the gasoline. There were some other difficulties associated with E85, but at the moment I can’t remember them.
Sweet car! What body was that? Did it share any components with the Nova? I always wondered about that.
Shiny Side Up!

The 1963 pontiac Tempest was a one year only deal. 1964 the gto came out and it is a much bigger car then the 63. Thanks to all that are looking and I need to get my butt in gear and get more done.

I plan on driving this on the street, making a run of 200 at bonniville, and some autocrossing.
That's what I want to do too! I don't think I'll make it out to the high speed course for a few years, but someday! :seizure:

Well I got the headers on and The Air Ride fitted. I am mounting all the ride height sensors now. I hope to have the rest of the exhaust done next week and then I should be starting on the cage. Thanks for looking.

Did you make your own boomtubes or buy them? Are they going to also act as the mufflers. I know Spintech makes some with built in mufflers, but I'm not sure how well they work.
Looks like it should have a pretty aggressive sound! I'm looking forward to seeing this project progress along.
Thanks,
Brandon

I'd like to hear what they sound like. I thought about using them at some point in time on a project, but I wasn't sure how they would sound. I'm sure the engine combo will have a pretty big effect on it. Yours should sound pretty crisp with the high compresssion ratio!
I'm not all that far away from you - straight out US50 I'm near Lawrenceburg, IN. I have a real good friend from North Vernon. I'd love to check out how you've built your frame some time.
I've contemplated whether or not (if/when I have the $$$ and time) I I would go ahead and buy the entire frame from Art Morrison or buy their front suspension and some other components and build the frame myself. I'm leaning toward building it. Well, I guess the first step would be to finish my current project(s) and then go from there!
Again- the car looks great. It's far from a Camaro - I love stuff that you don't see every day!
Sorry - I got a little long winded
Later,
Brandon

Well this project was on hold but now it is aback on again. I hope to get on it hard and get it done for next spring......updates to follow. Looks like I am going to move the engine back in the chassis to make it handle better. Its an iron block. I'm moving it back 8 inces from where it is now...bring out the plasma cutter.....

Ended up moving the engine back and I'm redoing the front frame rails to get more clearance for the front tires. I'm looking to run 285's on the front of this thing now. I'm also switching from Airbags to coilovers from Ridetech. I will post pics over the weekend. Looking to have this completed for spring 2011. Hopefully I will have something for project UNFAIR ADVANTAGE...

I'm loving this build and just went through the pics on photobucket. You did a great job on your frame! Did you run the exhaust through the rocker or under? Definitely subscribing to this one...
k7king
09-02-2010, 07:23 AM
exhaust is going to run through the rocker.....It will be too low to run it under......Rockers will be 4 inches from the ground at ride height.
Thanks for the support

I finally got the firewall all done and the Dash all welded up.I haven't welded in the door bars yet so that I don't have to crawl over them all the time. These are not the wheels I'm going to use but they are the correct width and offset so I could check all my clearances. I'm going to buy a rotisserie this weekend and start on the body work. You can see the engine setback in these pictures.
