Well it looks like I may have to get a new wiring harness for my 68 Camaro RS/SS. Who's products have you used before and what did you think? I'm particularly interested in the kit having the proper plug for the instrument panel/cluster to work the Tic-Toc Tach. I'm also upgrading the audio and maybe add a Vintage A/C unit in the future. What did you think of the entire kit? Was it complete? Were you able to follow the instructions easily? I know you PT guys can help! Thanks, TZ

Everybody has good things to say about AAW. I am in the process of a Painful Wiring kit myself. Do not attempt that at home kids. If I ever do it again it will probably be an AAW kit.

As noted, you can tell them what modifications you've made and they will try to acommodate you. I've not tried AAW, who may also be fine.

I've installed an AAW kit in a '68 Camaro. What can I say about it? Use it. It was the best kit I've EVER used. And it includes everything you could think you'd need. By the way, I used the Classic Update kit. I hope they have one for my car when I'm ready for it.

Id agree Painless should be named PAIN IN THE A$$
they are complete trash.
why buy a harness and use yellow blue and red But connectors?
I have used 2 pain in the a$$ wire kits, one for an las1 conversion and one for a Ford f250
I would try the AAW next other than that I build my own harneses now.

Kevin I would Highly recomend you send that kit back to Painless.
They dont make kits that ive seen that are all plug and play.
you get a Box of red blue and yellow conectors to install it with
you have to terminate things as well they do not have factory conectors..
They use BUT conectors. Probebly the same trash your trying to get rid of by replacing the harness
Nice eh?
Also Every kit Ive used has had something wired wrong
I hate to bash them but Im just telling you my experiences with painfull
When you call the help line they have retards reading scripts and looking up info on alldata. We all know Alldata isnt 100% correct either.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY suggest you buy from AAW or another recomended seller here

I used AAW, Called and told Ray what car I had and what I would be changing or modifying. Delivered in a few weeks plug and play. Perfect fit, excellent qaulity, matched all factory original color codes and plugs. An absolutely beautiful product, and the best customer service I experienced next to hydratech which was also a great company to deal with.
Madspeed! You mentioned that you've had problems with painless kits not wired properly,,just curious what was wrong?? Did they have wires hooked to the wrong fuses?? I started running all the wires on my car a few weekends ago, using their 18 circuit universal muscle car kit! Thought things where going pretty good,,getting kind of nervous now!!
Thank you for all the nice comments, guys!
TZmtrsprt: If you need a catalog or simply to ask a few questions about which harness works with your application, I'd be happy to help. You can send me a PM, email or call toll free (800.482.WIRE). I can help get you in touch with a dealer if you'd like.
Thanks again for the votes of confidence. Thats what means the most to us.

Madspeed , thank you.
I am guessing aaw has plug in wiring systems? Sound nice.
Sounds like I wasted 450 bucks on painless. Any guess on aaw pricing?

Whistle Pig, call American Auto Wire and ask for Theresa. It'll be the best call you've ever made. And it's not because of her voice....

One more vote for AAW! I bought their kit and it looks awesome. I haven't begun the install yet, but the quality of the kit seems to be great just from inspection, and I can vouch for the fact that their customer service is top notch. I'd be surprised if you find anyone's that beats it. Theresa worked with me this summer to get me set up with the stuff I needed, and I can't think of a single complaint so far. Not to mention that AAW blows Painless away in terms of coming out with new, innovative products.
And one last thought - take a look at how much involvement AAW has on this board. Theresa is always on here answering questions, PMs, etc. You see people on here talking about the parts they want for their cars, and AAW will release them a few months later. How many manufacturers listen that closely to what their customers want?

Ron Francis Wiring will get all of my business from here on out. I installed one of ther kits in my 73 Nova and it went in very easily. I never had to call there tech line except to order there bad a$$ billet ignition switches. Ron Francis also has a "Select-a-Circuit" where four of my aux items can either be constant 12 or switched 12 just by pulling out fuse and moving it over (like flipping a switch). The price was reasonable and I got all of the relays and things to incorporate elec fuel pumps, windows, locks, temp controller for fan. I would definately buy there product again! Actually when I build my Nascar styled 76 Chevy truck I will be using there 8 or 12 circuit kit.
