Did a certain someone go to the races this weekend at Laguna? I wanted to go up there SO bad, just too much to do. It's interesting to hear how much different the Cad's sounds than the Corvette's, they also run the LS2's, I guess it must be something specific to the exhaust. Gigliotti's Corvette has this incredible shrill pitch to it, when I heard the cars early this year at the Long Beach event, I changed all plans on which motor to go with for the 70.
I LOVE those Speed GT cars, all of them, but especially the GM cars. Best racing series out there in many regards right now.
If you did go, did you get a chance to get close to the Audi R10?

Indeed I did, and it was good, and there was much rejoicing. Dig this: https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23815
Absolute postcard perfect days both Sat/Sun. Great racing too. Only complaint is that with ALMS getting on NBC a few times this year they have attracted a broader fan-base. There is now a fair bit of the NASCAR element at their races.
I got a lot closer to the Porsche Spyder, but the crowds prevented any quality photos. Porsche/Penske isn't very guarded about security and photos around the Spyder as they are coming out with an entirely new one next year.
LG was great about fans looking at their cars, the CTS-V team was too, as was the Audi S4 team that races Speed World Challenge.
The Audi camp though was cordoned off from the crowds pretty tightly, as was Pratt & Miller (C6-R) and the Aston's.
I asked Louie G. why the sound difference. He said the Pratt & Miller cars (C6-R and CTS-V) use a true dual exhaust with no crossover on both the C6-R LS-7 and the CTS-V LS-2, while his cars LS-2's use a 2-1.

I haven't been up to Sears Pt. (I still call it Candlestick too) in years. How is it these days in terms of getting around to different parts of the track to spectate?
