Well, I decided it was finally time to stop coming in as a guest and become a member. "TooFun" has been a member for quite a while and was the person that got me started on this board. The information has been great and extremely helpful. I drive a 1969 Camaro SS Convertible with a 420hp 383 Stroker engine. The car has a 12 bolt with 3.73 gears, 700R4 overdrive transmission, B+M shift, custom Bullet Performance stainless exhaust, new interior, and the final piece of the puzzle will be changing the suspension and wheels which currently has Moog springs, KYB shocks, and Centerline Autodrag wheels. I am including a couple of pictures. Looking forward to learning more from all of you!

Looking good! Welcome to the forum.

I would like to see a nice set of open 17" wheels on that car, but I am biased.

Tyler,
You read my mind. I am thinking about a set of Torq Thrust II's or Famosa's or Fontana's. I would like 17x8 5"bs for fronts and 17x9.5 5.5bs rears. Thanks for looking and for the opinion.

Welcome,
When I looked at the car I was thinking TT11 also but I am also bias that way. My 69 has 17x8 with 4.5 or4.75 bs. That is fairly close on my car-fyi. Anyway, nice ride.

Thanks Steve and Bill! Bill, when you get a chance, could you let me know whether you think that the 5" bs would fit? I have stock suspension as far as control arms, leaf springs, etc. The pictures you see there are with a drop in the front suspension of about 1" because of the springs and entensions on the rear shock mounts. All of that has been returned to the original specs. I was under the impression that a 4.5 or 4.75" bs would be best, but a friend of mine told me that the ideal for the 69 Camaro SS was a 5" on the 17x8(fronts) and 5.5 on the 17x9.5(rears) Thanks for the input!

Eric,
I looked at my camaro. It is a restored original car with no mods on the suspension so your car may be differant. I think 5bs on the front would be fine even though it would be close to the tie rod ends. 5.5bs on 17x9.5 would be extremely tight on my car just sitting. I feel there would be issues in curves. There would be less than 3/8 clearance at the shock mount. Not that it would not work but it would be tight. I am sure there are others here with more knowledge than me about the tricks to making this work(alittle help someone!). The car I am attempting to pro-tour is a 80 malibu so I don't know all the ends and outs on the camaro. Mine is more for smoking the tires and straight line acceleration if you what I mean.

Bill,
Thanks for checking. My buddy just got the TTII's(17x9.5) for his 69 Camaro so I may just try one on the rear to see what the spacing is like with the rim and tire. I also realized that I may have a problem due to the custom exhaust I had done. I remembered that when the shop was making bends they showed me how close to the tire they had to run the pipes(within 1 1/2") which is fine with the 265's I have on there now but may be too close with a 275 and 5.5bs. We'll see what happens when I mount the rim and tire. May have to go with the 17x8's all around with the 4.75bs.
