Holy Cow!! Last Wednesday, I was hit hard with a Kidney Stone. According to my CAT Scan it appears to be "stuck" at my Kidney and Ureter.
I am scheduled to go in Friday for a procedure where they run some equipment up my equipment and then leave a stint. At that point they will determine whether they will use Laser or Sonic to break it up.
But right now, I flip between extreme chills and sweating. Oh yeah, the pain in back is brutal--even with Hydrocodone!!
Does anything help? Cold, Heat, Brick to the Head?

Drink lemon (fresh sqeezed) water every day and it will disolve. Sounds like something from Mythbusters but it works.
Good Luck!!

I am fortunate enough to have never had one...yet. From what my co-worker told me about his experience I vote for the use of a combination of booze, vicoden, morphine, and brick to the head for treatment.

I had one last year in my lower right side and I thought my appendix burst... I was in serious pain and had to call my mom (wife and kids were out of sate) to take me to the ER. Sat there for 2.5 hours waiting to be seen in severe pain, finally got taken back to a room and no lie, about 2 minutes before the Dr came in I felt this little "tickle" down there and the pain was gone. It passed into my bladder while I was waiting. I left the ER pain free, $50 lighter in my wallet and had a nifty little strainer to pee through to catch the little sucker. Later that night it passed, I was suprised how small it was...
I sympathize with you, good luck - I can't imagine having one stuck!:scared:

I also get these. If I feel pain at all, I go right in for X-rays and if it's a stone (or a group of them), they schedule me for a sonic treatment that busts them into almost-sand with sound waves. (here's to technology!!)
I've had the treatment twice in 6 yrs (they say I can expect to do it once every 5 years or so for the rest of my life). It works great, you're out in a day and back to life in 2-3 days, tops.
I've passed some stones I could not believe I was capable of passing.
So far, I've managed to avoid having anything slid up my unit. Once, I had a 'logjam' of stones/sand in one of my kidneys and they recommended to go 'up and in' to dislodge them.
I said no, thanks...and asked what my options were. They said "We'll have to go in through your back if you don't want the stent."
I was like..."fine with me Amigo. You can cut into my back all day long, but don't be looking to go probing up into my probe, okay?"
The logjam cleared itself out before any further action was required. Drinking lots of water helps on all fronts- before, during, and after. You've got to have some good water pressure to push these things out.
It's freaky at first, but you get used to it after awhile. Now I make jokes about it, like when my wife...err...
...well, they're pretty gross jokes. PM me if you want to hear 'em....lol!

UPDATE:
Last night my Temp spiked to 104. What happened is the Kidney Stone was too large to pass and lodge itself in my ureter causing an infection or a "SEPTIC CONDITION" as they called it.
So the Dr. went in through my 'unit' , up through my bladder , to my ureter. Once there, the Dr. used water to force the stone back into the bladder and THEN used Sonic waves to break it up. I just got home from the hospital and I am high as kite on Morphine and Loritab (Hydrocodone).
Good news is I feel great right now. Bad news, they had to leave a stint inside me. And next week they will remove it- which means back through my unit!!

Pray you never do. Words cannot describe the pain. If there is indeed a hell, im sure it hurts less than a kidney stone.
it feels like an arrow sticking through your back and out your balls. Like having your nuts in a vice. That's something most guys dont talk about. Usually it's the back pain they talk about. But the symptom the doc wants to hear is "my back and balls hurt" you go from "oh, he's got a back spazm" to "OH! Morphine drip! quick!" you'll know when it happens to you.

MY wife went through the procedure last fall, stint and all. She said she'd rather go through child birth again than to have to go through that again. Oh yeah, removing the stint was one of the worst parts. In the Dr office, no knocking you out for that. They just grab ahold and start pulling!!:seizure:

I don't think so, she went to that appointment alone. However, she was in tears when she got home and went straight to bed.

After my last treatment, I pee'd out so much sand I told the wife I could probably flow more now...I'd just been Extrude Honed.
No stent! No stent! More drugs!
I've been able to sidestep the stent so far...just keep asking for options, like I did...and you can avoid it.

I'm drinking about 1-1,5liter (1/3gallon) of water every day, can you promise me that I'll avoid this forever?

I had one a few years ago that was 6mm in diameter, too large to pass normally,so it had to be removed in the OR. I was out when they put the stent in. Only problem with the stent is you feel like you need to go pee all the time and it really smarts like hell when you do pee. When the doctor removed the stent,it only took a second but my life passed before my eyes for that second. Talk about a rush,,WHEW!!:)
As for the pain, there just isn't any way to describe it. FWIW,it's the worst I've ever experienced in my 52yrs of living.
