I'm from Bridgman in SW Michigan so if there's anyone else out there from nearby drop me a line and maybe we can get together and work on our projects.

I'm just starting on the project so don't expect much...yet. I'm new to the pro touring tech and will need lots of help (I typically build 60's muscle for straight line). I chose the Fairmont for two reasons, first it's a Mustang underneath and second, it's not a Mustang. The 82 Fairmont weighs less than 3000 and handles fairly well now but it's not a true road machine in the way I'd like. I've seen and ridden in several Mustangs that were done well and that's what I'm shooting for. I just finished the bodywork and dropped in a 94 GT engine/tranny. Now I'm looking to update the suspension and rear axle (still has the anemic 7.5 that was in it originally). Then I'll do the interior and then go back to improving the engine/tranny.

Hey Don I always wanted to do one of those my next door neighbor had one few years back and I hoped to buy it when she passed away. I had a brain draining idea of a 300 6 with an Eaton blower or an old Super Coupe 3.8.
Well never got to pick it up her sone kept it and is restoring it and so I now go on with a 78 C10 SBC with 4 corners of Air Ride Technologies and soon some different wheels and tires to help corners, a 77Monza with ART and a 8 port hilborn intaked 283 all forged internals and soon to the stable is coming a 85 Pontiac Grand Prix(also in the ******* line of pro touring) that will have my old 402 BBC ,soon to wear some AFR heads and who knows what else.
If you want a good setup and it is tunable , rides awesome and you can (if set up right) make your car unstealable by lowering it give my cousins company a call Air Ride Technologies. Brets stuff rocks , its very adjustable and you can add it in stages (like rear first, front second then get ridepro e then the other addons.) And as for bullet proof I have had mine over 2 yrs in September and I love mine.
Cool project.
