Hi Guys,
I hope someone can steer me in the right direction, as my car is up on blocks, the wife is yelling, and I'm freezing. Anywho, here goes:
I'm working on an 87 Buick T Type. I installed Spohn lower control arms and Howe balljoints w/o any probs, then I installed Pole Position upper arms and Howe balljoints w/o any probs. Then I went to install some spindles from a 2nd gen Camaro, AND I FOUND PROBLEMS!!!! The spindles don't line up for crap w/ the ball joints, and if I did bolt every thing up I would have positive camber from hell. I'm totally lost...I thought the 2nd gen F body spindle was a bolt in affair. The reason I am using them is they were left over from an old project, and they are nice powdercoated 2 inch drop spindles. Can someone boot me in the azz as to where I'm screwing up, such as the 2nd gen F body spindle NOT being a compatable item? :crying:
Thanx.

I don't think 2nd gen Camaro parts will work on a G body. The only ones I know for sure are a direct replacement are Obviously G body spindles, & S10. Then B body ones with different upper A arms.

B-body spindles work, not F-body stuff.
Remember, with the new ATS stuff, they make spindles for the F-bodys, then the ATX for the g-bodies, different parts all together.

I'll go with ATS spindles or SC&C street comp stages. Just my 2 cents

Wow, youz guys is quick! {Sorry for the "Joisey speak".}
Thank you very much for taking the time out to give me all the info. Guess it is time to mud wrestle the wife for the Visa card, so I can straighten out my poor T Type.
Take care, all.

If you want to lower the front end, using the tall ball joints as sold by SC&C will lower the front some. I think that SC&C advises about .5 to .75, but my experience with my car was about 1"-1.25" lower on the front end maybe. Check out my side view pics in the "New Members" section. I have the Street Comp II package, and the handling is considerably improved over stock.

I thought the late B-body and the 2nd gen F-body used the same front end parts?

You can use 2nd gen spindles, but becuase they're taller you need to use a special upper a arm.... Something like this from hotchkis
http://www.hotchkis.net/cgi-bin/EDCstore.pl?user_action=detail&catalogno=1101C
But those are kinda pricey...

Howe tall lower ball joints, at least with the balance of his Street Comp II package, will lower the front end of the car slightly. Check out the SC&C Street Comp II package on their website as sold by Mark Savitske, Savitske classic & Coustom. No more bump steer, either. Noticeable improvement in all around handling & feel, at least with the combination of other improvements/modifications that I have made.

Well, big props to Mark at SCNC for straightening me out. :1st: Turns out I had the wrong upper control arms; they are too long. So, I placed an order for the parts to shorten them, so I should be back in biz soon.
And I'm glad I didn't lose my mind over the "if or if not" an F body spindle can be used on a G body. :)
Cheers,

It was a nice ride out in the country for me. :) His shop is only about 60 miles from my house, and it def benefitted me to make the trip. Mark and his Dad are super cool...I feel like I made 2 new friends. And best of all they didn't bust my chops about the fact I own an AMC!
