View Full Version : Yet another "name my car" post...

I never thought much about a car name but lately have pondered on it. Am working on... yet another... '68 Camaro, plan to have it painted silver. Am on a budget. Will have a LS1 in it. And refuse to use the name "Silver Bullit".
Quicksilver would've been kinda cool but some Hoosier on here already took that name :lmao: Any thoughts?
EDIT: I think I put this in the wrong forum?

What about a play on the pony car theme and something like "Painted Pony" or "Silver Steed"
Sir Don

Or just call it "Silver". Then you could mash the gas pedal down and say "HI Ho Silver, away!!!". :poke:

While I still do not understand why you would want to name your car....
I actually like the idea of "Silver". Purely for the hi ho silver effect.

You could stick with the Silver theme but go the route of joining in yourself with it too and call it "Lone Ranger" never seen it before but it will make people say " and Silver or Hi Ho Silver away " after hearing the name. How many horses is that? Silver was only one horse and you have many more than that,Right?

Mmmm, "500 silvers" or "Steed 500"
Baaaa, may not even give it a name. Now if I had a badass Pro-Street with a big ass blower sticking out of the hood, I'd just have a license plate that says "SLOW"

I look at it this way. It's your baby, project and something you have to live with, have a passion for. I thought about my project and it is all consuming. My family and I went to an amusement park over the summer and Riptide was my son's favorite ride. It fit with where I was at and still feel sucked into my project. It occupies a great deal of my day to day thoughts. To each his own some don't understand naming a project and others struggle to find a name. Pull something personal out of the air that makes you feel good about your project and where you are in life and have a great time with it. I am!
I was trying to find a Silver streak in a fun project.
Hey Buddy, I think you have a great project and I hope you find a name that fits with where you are at.
Good luck!
I frequent your neck of the woods and maybe some day we can get together and discuss our projects.

Buddy,
You could always negotiate the rights to buy the name "Quicksilver"? :rotfl:

If you do choose, "Silver", as it's name, You could get some custome plates that simply say, "AG". (Periodic Table Symbol for Silver)

Hi Buddy,
I work in the bottling industry. The company I work for manufactures bottling lines (Coke, Pepsi, Budweiser, Miller, etc..) I was just in Grand Rapids MI. 2 weeks ago working with Johnson and Johnson on a project. I'll be in Chicago from Saturday to Thursday, but will be real busy at a trade show. I look forward to meeting up with you and your project.

My project is in similar condition. I'm waiting on a machine shop to deliver some brackets so I can get my IRS mounted into the car. I just updated my “minor progress on Riptide” post. I am having renderings done for my project and put a teaser pic up for review.
I lived in Grand Rapids for about 6 years and may some day move back. Cost of living in So-Cal is becoming unbearable.

IMHO, if you're going to name the car, give it a name that portrays the theme/character of your finished dream and portrays your personal character. You could use one or two word song titles from that era that bring back memories, i.e. 'Rock Steady' - Aretha Franklin, 'Roundabout' - Yes, etc.
Combine attitude adjectives and animal names, i.e. 'Mad Dog', 'Crazy Horse', etc.
Use names that provide an image of nature, i.e. Thunder, Lightning, Earthquake, Tsunami, Hurricane, etc.
How about words that describe the 'project process'... Agony, Pain, Long Time Comin', Born-Again, L-Stressed-1, etc. OR names that sound like a govt secret project... C-68, (camaro 68), B-68 (budget 68), Area-68, and so on.
Break out a Thesauraus and have fun!
Just some ideas for you.
