Which way does it fit ,lip facing into trunk or out of trunk ?

The lip goes to the outside. Also I hope that you are using the Metro brand since it will not leave your lid too high. Soffseal was going to revamp what they were using but I haven't seen any of it to know if it is better than it used to be. I have no issues with the Metro at all when it comes to the trunk. When it comes to the roofrail it is another story but we will save that for later.

...and the gap/seam should be at the back right behind the latch so if any water gets trapped it has someplace to go.

Thank god i put it in the right way round , and with cut by the lock, reason asked was it did not seem to want to stay that was round. bought my seal from NPD trunk seams to be flush.
